  1. True. Looking back, Katrina did have a long fetch off the GS and eventually FL Straights juicing it up, aided by the SW movement, so probably not the textbook example.
  2. Katrina was a decent example in S FL, it's structure actually improved over the everglades iirc.
  3. 2.5 hours and counting of 100+mph gusts
  4. Intensity forecasting is a nightmare, no doubt. I went 110mph LF back on Monday, which I thought was aggressive at the time, and it ended up extremely conservative
  5. where's the "nbd structural damage" crew at ?
  6. Yeah, has nothing to do with running a business model for clickbait, adsense and even movies. it's all about collecting data
  7. Capitalizing on others misery for "business needs", quite.
  8. That is storm chasing ala HurricaneJosh and etc.
  9. i'm kinda hoping for a catastrophicane
  10. It would be sweet to see Ian criss-cross back into the gulf stream.
  11. Remember the surprised folks when Katrina moved into and across S FL as a Cat 1?
  12. A bit early to say that, but yeah most likely. Surge/rain pretty much always trumps wind besides rare exceptions such as Andrew, King, etc.
  13. There were many factors for the weakening, but it seemed like the core was disrupted after the RI, dry air/shear definitely had an impact. Additionally, OHC wasn't supportive of a Cat. 4 towards the N GOM where there were cooler eddies, iirc. Seemed like everything went wrong for Opal after the RI.
