I will probably get blasted for this but science has become a religion to some. When the entire goal of science used to be debating differing opinions. Now if you differ from the main stream you get cancelled. That isnt science. That is conforming to the status quo. -
I mean lets be honest. We have been in three year Nina hell. The people that have disappeared are smart. Because we are basically screwed. And I see nothing on the model runs to make me think that is gonna change anytime soon. The whole "base state" stuff could be right. But until the Nina goes away we have no way to know. It has been never ending Pac puke.

Happy hour GFS is Nina on steroids throughout its entire run. We are fooked most likely.

Problem is the cutter on the 17th/18th is a weak pos and doesnt bring any cold air in behind it. If it was a stronger storm we would most likely get thumped in the front end with the next one. Edit: And by we I literally mean me. Out here. In the middle of nowhere.

More heartache I suppose? In all seriousness with the base state the way it is I am not so sure Nino's will be a good thing for us anymore either. Especially if we dont have any blocking to get the polar jet bent down into the conus. But for sure Nina's have sucked. So who knows at this point.

No one on the east coast gets snow on this GFS run. It is a frontal passage for everyone.

Thats what I get for trying to explain the map he posted. Mets are mets for a reason.

That is a huge map to try to explain. And I am no teacher. But look at the lines. The closer together they are the faster the flow. Remember HP flows clockwise and LP flows counter clockwise. So for example the LP in the SW is pulling warm air from Mexico up into the CONUS. Then connect the LP's and HP's. LP in the SW to HP on the gulf coast. See where that warm is going? Again. I am no teacher and I am drunk. But that is the best I can do. Many people here will be able to explain it better.

Nope. But I would sure as S like to be in phase 8/1 in January than 4/5. 4/5 is pretty much a death nail.
