Instability is on the rise. Mesoanalysis has around 2000-2500 SBCAPE and 35 kt bulk shear. Partly sunny with mid-high altitude altocumulus and a little cirrocumulus and cirrus strewn around the sky with 70% sun. Wouldn't be surprised if we get jolted this afternoon although shear is almost unidirectional.. One weather station nearby has 91 and the other 87. It's probably 89-90. Heat index in the upper 90s to 100.

We should be under the southern tail end of these storms in a few hours if they hold together. Plenty of instability ahead, most likely they do.

LOL at the farmer's almanac prediction. "much above normal temps". I think the farmer's almanac is a joke. What are they basing this on? A 300 year old formula is probably flawed by now. Opinion subject to change without notice.

Dewpoints have been in the 70s for most of the time here since July here in Bahamasboro, MD. Amazing how long it's been both hot and humid for that long.. Tonight is the 99999th installment of muggy nights

Think this stretch of 90s starting tomorrow through Friday is our last heatwave... Getting hard for heatwaves now because the sun setting earlier. Can just about notice every day now. I'd like to say goodbye to summer early, although September could feature a 90 or 2. This dew wave is horrible.

I experience small hail driving from Logan WV early this morning after sunrise northeast of charleston WV. Lots of CG lightning and very heavy rain on and off for a half hour. Was foggy for several hours until about 11 AM coming through a lot of the subforum. Now i'm back home sweet home in Goldsboro MD.

Driving back from wv. Currently in the meat and bones of the subforum... seeing some towering cumulus near Hagerstown. Waving at all the members!

Final day and night here in Logan wv. I see my home 400 miles away is getting some thunderstorms around.. same thing here tonight. It was fun riding the big trail systems.

I am just south of Charleston WV right now and for the next 3 days. Four wheeling. Had an intense thunderstorm a couple hours ago with lots of CG lightning. Next 3 days rain chances should be low

Lightning blitzkrieg down south. New cell popped right near me and hearing rumbles and seeing flashes. Moonlight sonata and lightning is a perfect combo

As the disturbance moves closer from the west with all the thunderstorms, plenty of instability over the peninsula with SBCAPE values of 4000 j/kg and LI's of -5 - 7C. Expecting some thunder soon

Looks like an upper level low on satellite just offshore of MD.. That explains all the thunderstorms to the south

Atmosphere has probably destabilized itself for another run. Sun in full power. 87/DP 72/RH 61% but it definitely feels more gross than that.

There appears to be a vort disturbance coming from the south per SPC mesoanalysis. Also seeing pop-up showers and a few storms on radar already.
