  1. That line of rain gave me .68 in about 15 to 30 mins. Pretty impressive. This was around 4ish but only now having the time to post.
  2. That orange spot on the radar ruined my lawn cutting plans (s. arlington). Was halfway done, too. Enjoy the dry weather, everyone else. Should have opened a beer and watched TV.
  3. Downpour and 3 thunder snaps on Capitol hill! Edit: make that 4, with the last one pretty close.
  4. Apologies, meant to post in discobs thread. Pop up shower right now on Capitol Hill. I don't have an outdoor thermometer, but it is 90 at DCA. Gonna check out the stickiness outside in a bit.
  5. All the precip wants to stay west of DC. Roughly a line from warrenton, reston and gaithersburg.
  6. Had a horizontal line of rain that lasted about 15 mins, but it gave me .26. Looks like we dry out after noon tomorrow, but a long range forecast says that there are shower chances from Tuesday to Friday. Sigh. Maybe a mirror image of this week!
  7. .96 for this afternoon event. Initially, we got big goblets of rain, which I thought would be a real downpour, but that only lasted a few minutes. The .96" was more spread out, light to moderate rain.. Didn't get the big amounts that N. Arlington received. Another comparison: DCA got .67, Apparently, the setup is for the same beginning Monday. Sad to say I'm going overseas and will miss it. Maybe I'll check in (but not comment). The big overperformer for the past few days in my area was that Saturday event where DCA got 4" and I got 4.80".
  8. Coagulating reds/yellows seem to be dispersing. If there is training along the dc/bwi corridor should be more moderate rain, no?
  9. Maybe be a mirror image of yesterday? Some moderate rain in the morning. Peeks of sun in the afternoon. Got relatively hot ~mid 80s. But it never produced pops of storms. Got no rain. This was inside the beltway, though.
  10. Wore my bean boots b/c I thought we were going to be the bullseye today. Actually, had a some moderate rain when I left this am. That lasted for about 15 mins. After that...nada! The skies look like a hurricane is offshore but we're outside of the impact zone. And really muggy. Just clouds moving fast and some openings of blue skies. Sun peeked through a few times.
  11. Tell me about it. I just got a pix sent to me from some family outside San Antonio. They got into their dark, parked car, and the temp read 140 degrees! To keep this on topic, I got .40" rain around 2pm today. DCA got .86 around the same time. It's been dark since, but further rain seems to have missed us.
  12. My yellows are turning to green. So I'm ending with 4.80 according to my digital rain gauge. May pick up a smidgen more I guess. I think that'll do it for DCA too. I always hate it when a rain event goes over to the next day. Yes, I'm anal. Good night!
  13. THE STREAM GAUGE ON CAMERON RUN NEAR HUNTINGTON WAS RAPIDLY APPROACHING MAJOR FLOOD STAGE OF 9.0 FEET AT 9:05 PM. WATER BEGINS ENTERING HOMES ALONG ARLINGTON TERRACE AT THIS LEVEL. https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/lsr/#LWX/201807220105/201807220105/0100
  14. The 1911 DCA daily rainfall record of 2.56" has fallen. 2.66 so far and still going.
  15. 2.52" so far here. From looking at radar, I don't think the metro area has much more to go. 1 or 2 hours tops. Looks like the rain demarcation is going to level off and exit up north. Will there be fill in?
  16. .80 since this event started this am. Also, if you want it to really open up, order some chinese takeout. It was light to drizzle for me a while back. As soon as I ordered and had to pick it up, whamo! Probably picked up .5 in those 30 minutes.
  17. I'm in S. Arlington and my digital rain gauge said 1.91 when I got home. I'm thinking I need a new rain gauge. But now I see that DCA recorded 2.63 in one hour. Wowsa!
  18. I'm in it! Outside the beltway it'll be sweltering, but everyone will point to DCA in the mid 80s, lol.
  19. Getting a little bit of a downpour in the capitol hill area! Should be interesting how it feels like afterwards.
  20. 2:24pm heat index is 109 at DCA. We hit 106 yesterday but that was at 5:52pm. Should be going up from here too.
