Friday into Saturday could be a legit threat. Temps are going to be borderline, but it looks like the ULL could help get it done here in the mountains of WNC. GFS just dropped 4” of snow at KAVL.
Starting to look like we might be able to score a decent event. Almost every models shows at least light to moderate snow.

Wow that’s a lot of rain! Looks like 2021 is picking up right where 2020 left, heavy rain.

I agree we’re just gonna have to wait and see for a little while. The first legit chance I think we will have January 7-8. This has been trending better over the last few runs.

Wind has picked up here and clouds thickened back up, @Sw NC weather seems like I’ll be getting what you are seeing soon.
The hard stuff only lasted about 10 minutes but visibility went way down. I’m in extreme north east Macon county for those that don’t know!

It’s flat out pouring here right now the flakes are microscopic but it’s putting it down.

According to radar things should be slowing down in Macon county but it’s still pouring!

It’s awesome out there. I can’t get video to load but here at the house there’s almost 2 inches and still ripping! Think we might make a run at 4.

Short term models just keep piling on the snow.
No joke! The latest hrrr shows 3-6” for most of WNC by midnight. I think we might lose a little to melt but with intense rates it should lay fairly quickly.

I know I don’t need to get reeled into the backside of the main precip but man oh man models are trying to reel me in.

These short range models are showing some impressive amounts. Let’s hope there right!

And now the 0z CMC follows suit and comes in snowier. This is starting to get interesting!
