Very strong storm this afternoon. 40+ mph winds lots of lightning and significant rainfall. Picked up 0.91” in a very short period

Got down to 37.4.  I wonder why the underperformance.  I noticed some clouds int he sky this morning.  Did some unexpected cloud cover develop?

Mid April got in the way

Umm, what is going on. Just looked at radar because it’s getting dark again and see a bunch of heavy showers blowing up again over the area. This system doesn’t want to leave

Just getting the ground nice and wet and primed for that 80 degrees and sunny so the weeds can really go

Much of tomorrow afternoon here is forecasted to be 10-15 BN due to chilly flow behind a cold front in combo with clouds and widespread rain due to a surface low forming along the Gulf coast and moving ENE to near or just south of this area. Rainfall of 2-3” will be quite possible over the next 48 hours, which would be very beneficial due to the winter having BN rainfall. The last significant rainfall event was actually with the big winter storm 1/21-2. If KSAV gets 1.34”+, it would become the wettest event since Nov 7th.

I just hit 67 under mostly sunny. If we get .3+ coupled with high 70s-80 and sunny all week, it will look like early June here by next weekend

43.3 was the low this morning. Looks like another freeze tonight and possibly Sunday night followed by the big warmup

I’m thinking frost is maybe, don’t think hard freeze. We may not get another freeze for weeks. Trees are about to go nuts.

These always seem to underperform here. Line is actually weakening now. A lot of warnings were dropped

Id probably be more concerned with Goldsboro—Greenville. Think they had some broken clouds and sun.

Thank you! Ironically, Holy Barney! Mainly for entertainment since it is out in fantasyland on the potentially drunk Happy Hour run: GFS has winter briefly return Mar 10-12 with temps BN even vs midwinter normals including hard freezes for most well inland locations and freezes almost down to Hogtown, FL! Even daytime highs are cold with upper 30s to 40s for many. This is from a rapidly plunging Arctic high. It will very likely not be anywhere near this cold then on the next run. So, enjoy it while it is showing up.

Barney says “Hey boys and girls!” Does Barney drink?

-20BN for Raleigh off an average high of 65 is still only 45

Being it requires “Barney” cold to get below freezing in a couple weeks I’d say I’m happy with this winter and ready to move on with weather like the past two days. Wouldn’t mind a few sunny chilly days and the frost/freeze cycle to continue into April for bugs

This is what I’ve been saying. So many people with “it can snow in March”. Sure, Jan! It just either takes -25 anomalies, a vigorous ULL, or one of the most dynamic systems of all time!

March snow is not “normal”, which is why it’s a Spring month.

Blooms and bumblebees and first sunburns are normal. People need to accept it and move on.
