Waiting on snow

Nobody really thought all that moisture was going to hang around once it got cold did they? That's not how this works. Colder drier air holds less moisture. Give me a 0.5 to 0.75 inches of liquid and cold and call it a day. Theres a reason 1-2 foot snows are so rare down here. A 6 inch storm is great down here.

So let me get this straight. The low is off the coast and moves back over land in Charleston and moves due noth from there?

That's only a 6 inch per year average. It's probably pretty close and shows the gradient there well.

We went through this last year. And every year for a decade it seems. Any kind of favorable Atlantic during winter is always 15 days away and never verifies. A -NAO in winter is a pipe dream anymore. Luckily you guys live up north where you'll still get some snow eventually. I may get blanked for the first time in history and not even be able to muster a flake with my already pathetic 4.7 inch normal.

Some of the more knowledgeable weenies up there are on the edge of the cliff! I've already jumped! You should join me.

Head on over to the Mid Atlantic forum and read that PSU guys research. He states what I've seen coming for 2 weeks now. When the Pacific pattern goes this bad as it is now it never recovers. In all his analogs it never recovered. Some winters were better than others because the Atlantic saved them. Don't fall for the false -NAO on the GFS. No Atlantic is saving us this year. This winter is a dud. I can realistically say that even though its only December. We're getting blanked! It's crazy for the mid Atlantic to give up because they have March. Screw March snows down here. They're rare regardless of what Panovich says. They make up a high percentage of snowfall because they can be heavy when they occur. They don't occur that often outside the mountains. This ain't 1960 anymore.

When there hasn't been a post in almost 2 days in the main thread going into peak climo you know it's bad. Winter 19-20 will go down as one to forget.

Funny how that works huh? Just goes to show we can screw up any pattern down here. It's amazing it actually finds a way to snow here.

I would have though the same about CAE. Not the case though. After they received 16 inches in Feb 73 they didn't get anymore until they received 5.5 inches 6 years later in Feb 79. Then they got 3.5 Jan 2003 and didn't get anymore until 8.9 in Feb 2010. 7 years later!!! And there are multiple 4 and 5 year streaks back to 1960. Their snowfall pattern is roughly the same. Nobody can argue that the upstate has really fallen off since 93 or so though!

I know! I give the winter a C-. My rant was focused mostly on the people who complain about not getting snow but average 20 inches per year! They don't know how good they have it! And yes the hype this winter had expectations high. I was hoping for a double digit year. Would be the 1st since 93. And double digit years used to occur every three years or so up until then. That was the good ole days!

Good riddance to this shit box winter. Tired of seeing the Mid Atlantic weenies cry all winter how bad their winters are. They always get snow its just a matter of time. They keep getting storm after storm now while we fail miserably. Beyond done with it

Yeah my forecast for 19-20 is above average temps and below average snow. Just forecast that and you're right 90% of the time. This is the easiest part of the country to forecast winter.

Watching what is most likely final threat of the season go down the ****ing toilet! The way this joke of a winter has been nobody should have expected any different.

It is depressing rare snowfalls and and 100 year snow events are happening and we can't get a flurry! I wish our turn would come at setting snow records. All we're good at in the SE is heat records.
