Yeah it's not me necessarily either.  As in not my credit.

I was reading this whole thing about how they create these ecological islands of starvation for a lot of species that are already in trouble because of climate change -related population destabilization. From flowering species to pollenating insects, flora and fauna.

So I guess the new thing is rock gardens with flowering plant types interspersed ...

The focus wasn't the fertilization chemistry so much, but fertilizer is a whole nother problem.  Yup.   The era of Roundup is basically archaic and actually just dumb in any generation.

I suppose it all stands to reason. I mean when we peer over an untouched wilderness scape,  we don't see that look for a reason.  Diversity = health in the ecology.

    Nailed it.

Plus, lawns absorb 0 carbon and mowers emit a relative f-ton.

I wish more people would work towards  grass-free yards. Rock or woodchip-based with native flowering, food-producing, or carbon-storing species throughout.

Signs that we break this pattern post day 10

Pattern change is always 10 days away!  I'm done with this winter, err, spring.  We're just chasing fantasy land wx indefinitely.

    Did I do that right?

I noticed that this morning .. temp hadn't wavered from 43-44F since 6pm on Sunday.  And now that I just looked, it doesn't seem like it has yet.  Currently 44F

Same here, although I did bounce up to 45 at some point since then but it was brief.

Not sure how much "yore" is in that June 1895 day, but that is pretty impressive for summer near peak solar...even with clouds, fog, and/or rain.

very impressive.  I guess that can happen if the ocean was around 55F, with a deep marine layer and constant onshore flow?

Yesterday, Portland set an April record and tied its all-time record for the smallest daily temperature range on record.

After seeing this I feel lucky to have made a 2 degree diurnal yesterday, all the way up to 45 degrees.

this wx is depressing. maybe some sun friday?

As much as we needed the rain, I'm good until the next event on Monday.  Get this crud out of here.

How much rain so far since sunday?  up to 1.68" here.

So you're saying you don't appreciate good ole Yankee ingenuity?

    Oh, I appreciate it :)

It just pains me to see when there's a $35 solution available.  Nothing beats a stratus!  Plus, the more CoCoRAHS observers the better.

Pretty sure it would’ve washed down to the river today.

Soil temps are in the upper 40s so I wasn’t sure if there was a preferred temp to get them started. I need it to get soaked in before my chickens free range too. Guess I’ll  have to research it a bit. It seems like an easier option versus nematodes.

One of the reasons I went the nematode route is because I didn't think our soil temps were ever consistently warm enough for it to be effective.  I get your concerns with using nematodes with chickens, though.

Coastal wx.  Here in the foothills we've had May minima of 27 or cooler - lowest is 21 - every year except 1998, and our mid-month move from Gardiner meant the NS records started on 5/17.  Had 32 on the 27th, also 32 in Gardiner on 5/14 (day before the move) so it was almost certainly 20s here that day.

Impressive.  We can get below freezing in May, obvipusly, but I'm not sure in my 4 years of record keeping how many times we have.  I'll have to look.

I'm down in West Palm Beach and the weather has been epic. Such a special place...

The front will eventually make it down to South Florida on Sunday in terms of a wind shift, but it will not be felt temperature-wise as temps will still hit the upper 80s with 90 degrees possible over the
    interior.

31.8°.  Probably last time below 32 this season.  Was up to 42 by 730, so pretty fake cold.

Yes.  Never listened to them again after they got fired, I think they jumped the shark.

I buy Dean’s Beans organic fair trade or when it’s on sale,  Pete’s French Roast or Maj. Dickason’s blend.  Always whole bean, always grind fresh before using a metal pour over filter or French press.
On rare occasions I’ll break out the 1940s all glass vacuum pot.

    This is the way.

Pete's is great, and a value when it's (often) on sale.

Boobs pressed against windows and distracting drivers?

Reminds me of the time in the late 90s you'd always see tractor trailers with W.O.W. written in their dirt film.  Whip 'em Out Wednesday.  A WAAF production, I believe (RIP).
