  1. To be honest it seems like an average/seasonal temp pattern with storm opportunities. That produces way more often than when an Arctic outbreak occurs. I’m right there with you.
  2. It’s wild how imby it seems like it’s rained every week (twice a week most times), for the past year with multiple hydro events and yet the one week we get substantial cold is when we get a break from the moisture. Awesome.
  3. Last December’s storm dropped 16 inches of snow imby, and I joked with everyone that it was enough snow in one storm to account form two winters. Mother Nature must’ve thought so too
  4. For many in the central and western part of the state, it’s the best month on average. Biggest snow of my life was a Valentines storm.
  5. My bet is warmer than average the entire season. 100% chance of verification.
  6. x2. It looks cold and it looks active. It wouldn't take a lot to turn a 35 degree rain storm into snow in the medium range from here on out and I still think we get a big dog somewhere along the way.
  7. This is the fastest I’ve seen clouds move over my head in a non-tropical related system. Coupled with the fact that it feels like late April, I’m thinking this will be an entertaining night.
  8. Wind is ripping down here today. It feels like an April afternoon. Growing sorta concerned with the straight line wind potential this evening. It seems like there will be plenty of energy to work with in our area.
  9. I got a few sleet pellets down here, so I guess we’re just counting pennies off the mountain lol.
  10. eeking out even a sloppy inch of snow in this pattern would be a heck of a steal in the foothills.
  11. Flurries down here in the foothills. I’ll cash it in. It might be all I see this winter
  12. Radar looks as impressive as it can get! Hope you guys are getting hammered.
  13. Can y’all toss a flurry or two my way down here in Burke? Good luck tonight!
  14. Any guesses on how soon it’ll be before I have to start mowing again?
  15. I’d settle for slightly above average temps at this point lol
  16. It’s not even cold enough for snow IN the mountains
  17. X2. Dead drift a streamer and watch the big boys come out to hunt.
  18. 35 imby with dense cloud cover and that classic winter thickness in the air. It feels like snow is coming. What a shame we couldn’t get a high pressure system to our north for this storm!
  19. We had a very strong storm around 3 am in eastern Burke - it was quite the light show. I'd say it'll snow within the next 10 days, but that's not looking so likely now. On to January!
  20. Can anyone share a link or point me in the direction to find those outputs from the ensembles? I used to have it bookmarked.
  21. Recently moved down the Mtn to Hickory and now living vicariously through each of you in this thread. Good luck everybody. I’ve never been more jealous and I’ll miss taking in the scenes this winter. Post plenty of pictures.
  22. Lots of good options. Old Fort, Marion, Black Mtn (highly recommend). Of course, in my opinion, I consider those foothill areas. So take that as you will. Although it'll certainly be snowier than Raleigh - you'll just miss out on NWFS events. Someone else might could advise better on Mars Hill, Weaverville, Marshall etc. Not sure what the elevation in those areas brings. As someone who now lives in the foothills again, I miss the NWFS events. But it still pays off to be in the foothills during the big events coming from the Gulf.
