  1. College football can burn at this point.  Bama had Grubb as their OC all of 3 weeks. Lol.  None of these coaches are going to stick around when the NFL calls.  Just wait till spring & after the first 3 games of next season. The portal will be beyond full.  The teams now paying millions will only increase their payouts.  Ohio State has bought their championship.  Texas right behind them. I see Sanders, Kiffin, Kirby, Haupel all going to pros in next 2-3 years tops.  Why work 365 days when in pros you work 5-6 months a year.

If you have not read what Locksley said about it all.  Go read it.  A 3rd string RB asking for $100k!  lol!

Sports has gotten out of control in all areas because of money and the fans are the ones that are paying for it

Baseball look at how the Dodgers found a way to exploit the Ohtani contract,Hes getting paid a annual  salary of 2M$ plus deferred payments of 68M$ between 2033 TO 2043 so they can just try and win a championship.

Look at the NFL,they are now trying to make this into a international and PPV game.Look at all the price hikes some teams are doing starting next season is just insane.Plus the Super Bowl, for a 20 person suite you pay between 1.4M$-2.5M$, for up to 20  people that is insane, price of a beer$20,if you wanna a hot dog its only $12.75..lmao

Now to college sports what are the rules? The NCAA has been corrupt now for decades. It seems the BIG-10 and SEC are getting pissed off and maybe had enough and formed a advisory group together this week, but its hard to read between the lines what is going on.But NIL ,shoot some college players soon will be able to retire before even leaving college if not already

The sports world has become Insanity for fans,it's suppose to be entertainment not a business not for you morage your house to watch a game, its out of control !!

Spot on truth.  Ohio state has an estimated $18 million in NIL deals.  That’s called buying the championship.  Same as pro sports. Manning at TX has made over $3 million & never played a down yet.  Caleb Downs from Bama to Ohio State is estimated to have been paid $1.5 million to sign with Ohio State. TX paid all their lineman $50k bonus at end of season.  Out of top 10 schools spending on NIL.  Only 1 school is in top 10.  That is UGA.   Now we see why Saban & eventually all the good coaches will do.  They will retire or go to the NFL.  Steel DC who just retired said he & Saban would visit kids in last 3-4 months.  The parents would look at them and say “We know we can win a title & go to the nfl with Alabama.  Problem is you are not even in the ballpark of the amount of money we have been offered”.  That is Alabama they are saying that to. The GOAT of college football.  It’s not about winning anymore.  It’s all about the money.  Now you see Pitino saying it’s out of hand. Just wait in 2-3 years we will have $5-$10 million NIL bonuses to 1 player.  That’s more than NFL rookies sign for.  Why even leave college.

For the sake of your (and everyone else’s) property insurance rates, we better hope we get a few tranquil years in a row….  Already seeing 20-35% increases this year, with more likely on the way in the years to come because of the last 3+ years.

Yes my insurance on my vehicles went up substantially.  Which is not all Wx related.  Its lack of availability of parts & people staying in rentals much longer is part of the problem.  I just dread a cold spring soccer season.  They are not fun to sit in.

    Yep…
Some people: 220 hours out and 70 degrees = *cancel winter*

Same people: 220 hours out and snow = *no way that’s happening*.

    .

I was not at all downing DT.  He is a good forecaster but just like in this forum. We are told to take it with any LR with a grain of salt.  DT makes it sound like it’s a done deal.  Which he does a lot of his forecasting to get clicks & make $.  Just like Bastardi. I don’t ever go with any LR forecasting on temps or precip.  Chances are it will always be closer to averages for both.

I had the unfortunate honor of taking one-too-many computer programming classes while in college.  I had a math class where we had to write calculus programming in basic - gag.  I could do fundamental programming, but calculus rarely agreed with me.  Fortunately, I had a buddy who was great at calculus, and we handled the programming together.  Computer wx models are nothing just programming code.  Take some time to think about that.   I will say this, some of what we see on modeling looks like infinite loops - meaning the program gets locked onto a trend and cannot move to anything new.   We see that in the form of feedback on the NAM at range.  We have seen that with recent MJO plots.  When it is warm, modeling tends to stay warm.  The opposite is also true.  Sometimes the change itself is feedback.  It seems that problem has been worse this winter.  I also think that three years of Nina data has really skewed modeling towards Nina responses.  In reality, this is a textbook Nino winter so far.  If I hadn't looked at a model and had been blindfolded from all internet data, this feels like a Nino winter - cold, damp, rainy, cloudy, some cold, big snows, grass gets green early(no lie...weird characteristic of Nino winters).

Interesting.  I said my grass is like spring green right now.  Really weird after all the cold & snow we just had

My daffodils made it to the surface which surprises me!  Our snow just cleared two days ago.  I think someone in that group of perennials was like, "Let's make a break for it."  LOL.

Noticed mine also just made it to surface.  My grass is super green also.  Quiet surprised.

Remember when there was discussion about how dry things were in December and how warm it was?  One thing that was noted was that if this was an El Nino winter it should be cloudy and rainy, especially in the eastern half of the state.   The other thing which was noted was that the second half of winter should be colder w/ systems tracking out of the GOM.  Also, remember how the October/September time frames were so dry(this year was top 5 driest...three of the years were El Nino), but that the following winter featured a lot of cold?

The potential for flooding is now an issue for mid and late week due to our snow pack melting -> welcome to El Nino.

Even next week looks to be very wet with lots of rains.

What a connection to the east Pac! there even looks like there is a shortwave riding out of the Bay of Campeche.

That’s really neat to see.  You can definitely see the stream of moisture heading this way.  Very wet conditions is on tap for this area.

NBM has the central and southern plateau at 4” of rain by early next week and close to 5.5” near Huntsville AL.

will be interesting to see how that plays out with snow melt .

Weather stations here are already saying flooding could be an issue this week.  3-5” is what they are predicting.  Thats alot of rain on top of a lot  of snow melt.  Yep going from dry to very wet.  That sounds about right. lol.

Yes, but still a lot to be ironed out.  Then a MONSTER warm-up the next week(day 8-14) 5-10 days worth, and then a colder Feb than maybe we have been used to....maybe.

After this week it will be welcomed.  This is killing business in the construction. Plus it’s killing my sales temporarily.

The GFS was a nice 1-3 with some 4+ areas for the Thursday/Friday event. The air behind it may be as cold or even colder than this.

The heart of winter here is January 15th to February 15th. It's the coldest and snowiest time of winter here. You can hardly beat having a favorable pattern in this window. It looks like we might have one for a good part of that window.

Though it’s supposed to be quite warm after this week correct?  From the 21st till beginning of Feb.?
