GFS looks awesome. Hard to deny the consistency of the models showing where the heaviest totals are in NC.

Don't look at DT'S afternoon discussion... he mostly uses last nights runs instead of this afternoons.... which obviously has changed from last night....
I don't know why anyone pays attention to him. He's a jerk.

So, Huffman has me in the area to get the most snow from this storm. The GFS and Euro look good. If this screws up now that we're about 3 to 4 days away...

So, was the NAM just bringing the precip 24 hours later or did it just not have the precip Thursday night like the GFS and Euro did?

NAM gets there, just seemed to be later than the Euro and GFS.
-
NAM looks either slower or less precip coming west with the initial wave Thursday into Friday.

When the surface temps are a near lock to cooperate you can go ahead and telegraph to expect a major winter storm since sensible impacts are pretty similar across all precipitation types.Yeah, looks like it is just a matter of how much will be snow and how much will be ice.

The ensemble mean looks like it increased a bit, too.

If anything the models have trended better today for central NC.

What an awesome run for the Euro. Definitely took a step to the GFS and UK. The models continue to show the area for the largest totals are from Charlotte moving NE into SE VA.
-
Anyone have the Kuchera for the Euro? I think it would have even bigger totals.
-
Euro moving a little further east in NC with the snow/ice line. Maybe taking a step towards the GFS.

Euro looking good to start Thursday for most of NC.

This storm does look a little like the Jan 02 storm that's been mentioned with where the heaviest area of accumulations is showing up.

Going to go forth and say I don't like the Christian McCaffery model either, funny enough that northern shortwave was solidly south of the GFS but the precipitation response was much more muted in comparison. Probably some other stuff going on but you'd expect to see more expansive precip with the Canadian.
Maybe they ran it to death like the Panthers did with McCaffery.

Look at the verification scores Brick.
I'm just telling you what he said.

Funny, folks seem to be down on the GFS, but Greg Fishel said he likes it better than the Euro lately.
