  1. Yeah I seem to remember last year's advertised long range cold didn't verify very often, if I'm not mistaken. Be nice to see long range trends be somewhat better this year. Save a lot of angst.
  2. First widespread snow event of the year (for NOVA anyway) shows up on 6z GFS for around 11/7. Jersey gets slammed and points north and northeast. Let the tracking begin! Only 12 days away.
  3. Typhoon Tip and others in the New England thread don't pay much attention to the Climate models. They just expect " the rust colors to be spread throughout most of the country". Keep the faith Bristow and pick up a new "toy"!!
  4. Just saw the 0z GFS Halloween storm. When do we start a Halloween storm thread?
  5. That looks like 2009-2010 at least for our region, and a lot of forecasters got it right!
  6. What caused the MJO to overwhelm last year?
  7. Lots went with that type of forecast in 2009/2010 and they were spot on. Now that was a NINO.Are NINO's easier to interpret in the long range?
  8. Small flakes at the beginning means bigger flakes later!
  9. Could drop a few degrees but we need that wind direction to shift at all levels which means a big change in things or hope models are a little off in their forecasts.
  10. Too bad that HP in the nw couldn't get further to the east especially with the trend to have the storm bomb off the coast pretty close to us. NWS has some snow in the overnight tonight when winds shift to the nw.
  11. That's a pretty stout HP in the NW. Too bad it's not a couple of hundred miles to the east, or less.
  12. That's right. Have to wait till this present storm exits, especially since the snow line is so close. Last chance to use the toy.
  13. Next slug of precip probably won't be snow but who knows. Got 3.5.
  14. Eyeballing, it looks like about two inches so far in Gainesville. Snow is moderate at best now. Barely a whisper of any wind. It's snowy, cold, and tranquil now.
