wow how long did it last? I know people who stood next to their window to record the storm lol
-
yep the sun is back out here too
-
if it can snow here in May it can definitely snow in Warsaw in May. I didn't know about Greece, it must have been in the mountains.
-
we've actually had severe storms and even tornado warnings in January though. even in 1996 in the middle of a historic winter lol
-
there was rain (the ground is wet here) but it was light
-
wait, did you see a real funnel cloud in Queens?
-
it worked at least this morning it's been sunny here
-
I wonder how that works, maybe the winds here cleared out the fog early here? It was foggy here last night but clear as a bell when I woke up.

Oh I love hail, give me hail over any of the other stuff. I think the storm you're talking about had that, I enjoyed that one. I just do not want lightning-- unless it's ball lightning lol. I enjoyed the Labor Day 1998 tornado outbreak, but moreso because the tornado didn't hit my house lol.

It's fun to recollect in the aftermath but I remember I lost thousands of dollars worth of equipment because of them and wired my entire house with UPS to control surges and sags. I actually had one of my computers burn because of a thunderstorm, as in I could smell it burning (It was connected to a surge protector-- clearly those things are absolutely worthless-- so I bought a computerized UPS). Plus the sound of lightning really scares me. I had to replace the roof and balcony at my other house when trees fell on them. Had to hire someone to clear out more trees that were damaged in that microburst. Keep that stuff where no one lives lol. I'd much rather experience a hurricane, they don't cause that kind of damage here.

LGA: 38 (1983)JFK: 42 (1983) what an absolutely amazing year this was, went from a 2 foot HECS to our latest snowfall on record here on April 19th to this very late season cold snap to the hottest summer on record until 2010.

it's been nice and sunny ever since I woke up this morning :-)
-
New Years Eve had our best thunderstorms in many years here.
-
humidity is MUCH worse than heat
-
I'm not sure there is anyone who actually wants severe weather. It's best where no human structures exist.

it's been nice and sunny ever since I woke up at 6:30 am here.

we need that over here!

No because the sulfates are modeled by simulations to dry out the monsoon seasons and move them further south. With wind circulations the way they are that drier air from the SW would be transported here. I like hotter day time highs and lower night time lows, in other words, more extremes. I'm not sure it would function like Pinatubo did because this involves a much lower amount of particle injection plus it would have to be redone every year.

The mute swans are gorgeous though I've seen them in Queens too at Alley Pond Park
-
wow I haven't seen the giant great blue heron yet!!
-
the sun is starting to come back out now....
-
I love Hempstead Lake State Park and the wonderful swans that nest there!
-
fwiw if we start dumping sulfates into the atmosphere like we probably will by 2030, it's going to make the climate cooler (or stabilize it) and drier.
-
they're going to be wrong like they always are, wet and dry go in cycles, we'll have some record drought again just like we had in the 60s. Remember they were predicting an average of 3 100 degree days every year by the year 2045
-
don't need them or want them anyway, a little light rain and thunder before the sun comes out is just fine :-)
