  1. Yea same here, some maples turning and i always assumed that it was due to lack of rain. Apparently not.
  2. ThIs weekend will be a perfect beach weekend. Taking the family to Cedar Beach tomorrow. 57 this morning.
  3. It’s been abnormally humid here. This will be remembered as a very humid summer with lots of rain
  4. Yea man, i told you, those hotels are built like fortresses. You should just sit back and enjoy. Eat some delicious pineapple, the Hawaiian bacon and ham, and some conkfish and relax.
  5. I still think you are fine. Even worst case scenario you are fine, that hotel is like a fort, well built. Only concern would be those mountain side roads washing out, but I’d have to assume they have heavy rain often and the roads can handle the rain.
  6. I’m so jealous. Being on Hawaii for a cane. My god.
  7. 1938 and Irene should never be in the same sentence...
  8. Hawaii is my favorite place. Been to Oahu, Maui and Kawaii, and all are great in their own ways. Great people, amazing food, incredible scenery and insanely nice hotels. Stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Maui, the St. Regis Princeville on Kawaii, and the Halekulani on Oahu in HNL. I actually teared up when i had to leave.
  9. For LI folks https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2018/08/21/west-nile-virus-warning-suffolk-county-long-island-mosquitoes/amp/
  10. Unless you are hanging out with Gilligan and Maryanne, you will be fine even if it does come close. Very well built hotels there.
  11. Bro relax, you will be fine. Storm will be weakening, and wont come close to you. Enjoy the vacation
  12. Great day to catch up on work, hate working weekends during the summer, but dont mind heading into the office for a few hours on a day like today.
  13. Yes, i work for the DPW in his Town. Yea, one can clear debris from the front of the drain, of course. Here we have massive drains that feed the neighborhood sump, so they cant get clogged from the street level, they just slowly fill up with leaves and dirt reducing the capacity of the sub-surface dry well itself, and of course clogging the pipe to the sump (which feeds from the drywell)
  14. You need heavy equipment to suck all of the debris from inside the drain. No way else to get in there
  15. First call, LI sees another 40"+ winter, 45"+ from suffolk line out east. NYC sees 35-40", the far NW burbs will do well 55-60+, and the immediate NJ suburbs will get 25-30". SW CT will get crushed as usual. JFK will probably record 18" as the measurements are taken from Jamaica Bay
  16. North central suffolk got rocked yesterday by several rounds of heavy storms starting about 4:30, even earlier further south. Just 3-4 miles nw of here saw nothing. Bad luck I guess
  17. Was a dangerous situation because after the rain ended there was a lot of lightning lingering. At the block party the street was packed with lightning strikes all around.
  18. Storms just kept developing to your NE. Was remarkable. Never ending
  19. 87 here and 1.27” of rain, wettest block party ever, still made do
