Is it possible to chase this with the lockdown in Illinois?
Technically yes. Just as long as you’re smart & avoid gathering in groups while waiting, being smart while getting gas (gloves, hand sanitizer, etc) & just being smart it should be fine. Planning on heading out but am gonna bring all my own food and water

Exactly 4” imby. Coming down hard with very large flakes at the moment as a narrow heavy band moves overhead. Ironically the second heaviest snow of the season (not winter, ha) behind halloween for here.

Top 5 event of the winter

Stores are still packed, as many have mentioned above. I guarantee if they didn’t close restaurants people would still be going. I really think they need to just do a total lockdown for a little while and close non essential businesses. Just get it over with

Indianapolis schools are closed until April as well. Probably a good chance it becomes statewide as more cases are uncovered.
Illinois is probably next. Most schools already have announced some sort of change (extended spring break, planning to go online) even without the state mandating it.

Not sure about the details on this one, but a friend coming back from University of Kentucky said they were not allowed to fill gas tanks all the way. Haven’t heard of any other such occurrences yet but still.
either way, normal life has never been anywhere near this disrupted in my lifetime. Kind of crazy to see all this stuff happening when a week ago I didn’t think any of this was possible

It is absurd how each and every storm this season has trended to complete southern garbage within 24 hours all season. You would think the models would handle at least one correctly.
Oh well, on to the next.
Yeah, next season please

Not a bad run for N IL by any means. I think just about anyone around these parts will take that, could be better but could be a lot worse

Kind of lame precip returns on the NAM but atleast the SLP isn’t any further south/east

Have a feeling some models are gonna backtrack a little overnight. Feel like between Rockford & Pontiac is gonna end up being a good hit in N IL

2.3” in Dekalb, looks like some nice banding is setting up to the south and west that should move in in the next hour or so. Definitely my favorite event of the season thus far, calm winds and large dendrites are making for a beautiful scene, not to mention we’ve already seen as much as I thought we were gonna get total.

Too early to tell but have a feeling we might overachieve in Dekalb. Temps are lower than most guidance had and already have more snow accumulated than most models showed by ~23z

Already down to 30 in DKB, never got above 32

Things seem to be trending better for now. 6z NAM was a healthy hit for the northern half of IL & GFS was a step closer. Hopefully the good trends can continue throughout the day

Snow commenced in Dekalb about 5 minutes ago, coming down good and very nice flake size. Ground already whitening up
