Screw it I'm moving to a more wintry location like Shreveport Louisiana.

And it's only 10 days away. Yeah right...

Just my own personal observation here but so amazing that we have all these fancy weather models and hi-tech tools in 2019, and man is no closer to being able to determine precisely what , when, or exactly where the weather will be. Only the Creator knows what the future holds. At 5 p.m. it was still 31 degrees and not even a complete dusting and 2 days ago we were under a Winter Storm Watch. Failure to launch in NE TN valley.

The discussion thread just threw out a term I don't think I've ever heard/read before. What the heck does 'anafontal' mean?
Non using letters??? LOL! I think they meant anafrontal.
With anafronts, precipitation may occur to the rear of the front and is sometimes associated with cyclogenesis.- 1

Just another untypical winter day. 61 degrees and 27 mph winds.

I have been watching the d10-15, because I would really like to see some extended winter. That said, what the models are spitting out inside of d10 is crazy. The first is the 12z GFS actual surface temp map(not departures). The second is the 0z Euro departure maps. There are -61 departures over the Plains on the Euro op. We saw this(temp extremes on models) a few days ago. It would take only one coastal of any variety to send that stuff south. One would think a storm might right that boundary at some point.
I try to remain optimistic but as Mack says, "these are always 7-10 days away."

MRX says light accumulation here Wednesday into Thursday. That's usually their wording for 1-3 inches. Up to a 50 percent chance of snow Saturday night. The short waves rotating from the NW over the next few days change their timing with almost every run.
MRX not impressed in am disco. Higher elevations may get an inch of snow after we all get our 2 inches of rain.

CMC is onboard! Game on
I don't ever remember seeing Mack positively excited. Although I'll admit to being around only about 2 yrs.

I can vouch. Very heavy radar echos with just enough evap cooling in Johnson City and surrounding areas to turn us to snow and produce the largest snowflakes I have seen since 1998. Some were the size of the bottom of a water bottle. Picked up a quick 1/2-1 inch that was not on the radar of meteorologists. Melted quickly after the precip stopped, but heavy daytime snow is always fun regardless of whether it sticks around or not.
I certainly agree with your description of the snowflakes. Those were huge. The ones in 1998 were longer, we all thought those looked like chicken feathers.

Can't wait for this awesome pattern where we get to rain, freeze to death, warm up and rain, freeze to death again and repeat over and over again. What a shit fest!
Looks like it's time for fresh kitty litter.

What is the wx for the Kansas City game? Have heard very cold and windy. Should be interesting seeing two teams that play outside in the cold go at it...no dome teams struggling to acclimate in this one. Grown man football in the cold.
High is supposed to be 8 degrees.

30's and cold rain is as miserable as it gets. This was a morale crusher in Raleigh.
Better than 90 and no rain.

That kind of cold not good for things with no snow cover though imo
What do you mean not good for things? Like nature???

Definitely possible in today's climate, but obviously, this would be quite an extreme outbreak, and therefore, quite unlikely.
But boy...the lows on the mornings of the 27th and 28th are stupid cold.
Definitely possibly. In NE TN, it is not unusual to go below zero.
