MRX seemingly overplayed the last system, even when data was indicating reasons to be cautious wrt snow (in east and northeast TN). This may cause them to overreact and be too cautious on the early week snow potential. I realize they have time on their side and it seems minor”ish”, but it’s been really cold leading up to this system .......and although we go warm for the first part, most of what falls after sundown with the upper level support passing almost directly over us Monday night into Tuesday morning could cause many more problems for commuters Tuesday.
In short, vs the last system, I think this one has much more potential for impacting travel.
But MRX is only showing a 30% chance of Snow Monday night.

Kingsport got zilch, other than a few crystals on the back porch. Just goes to prove, doesn't matter how much experience anyone has, or how much money they invest in hi-tech models, no one can accurately predict what the weather will do except the good Lord and He's not telling! Lol

MRX has pulled the plug. It's over. Disco:
Frustrating but also interesting how this system evolved this evening. The dynamics that the synoptic models where depicting across the region, especially southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee quickly translated across the Carolinas and eventually Virginia. One clue of this quick translation was the strong pressure rises over the Tennessee valley. Currently strong pressure rises are occuring across much of area with deep cold/dry air advection limiting precipitation development. End result, snowfall will be less and limited to southwest Virginia and far east Tennessee Mountains. Have canceled the winter weather advisories for the northern Plateau and much of northeast Tennessee valley locations.

The whole system is moving very fast. Not looking good for sustained period of snow. Down to 42 here at 6:24.

58, cloudy, and breezy in Kingsport. Currently 6 degrees above predicted high.

The 12z GEPS at 500 past d10 is a beauty.
Sounds a lot like last year. The cold was always 7-10 days away. :( Maybe it will finally happen.

Monster winter storm on the Canadian late run. It's been solid at sniffing them out at range this year. Basically says western and southern forum doesn't need electricity. Then pounds some sleet down and then snow too further east. Heavy sleet, snow and freezing rain are still rolling almost forum wide at 240, it's only been going for a few hours north at East of Nashville by this point.
216-240 snow total.
Now we just need a 500 mile SE jog.

Nice rant man! I couldn't have done better myself!
Perhaps consider moving to Colorado or Maine? I've even thought about West Virginia.

With no cold air source, I am concerned this may be just cold rain for the vast majority of us below 2000 ft.

MRX put border counties of East TN in a Winter Storm Watch for 3-6 inches. Kingsport 1-3 so that will be a Winter Weather Advisory.
