I think the fact that wintry precipitation has broken out across the Shenandoah Valley and into MD is a positive. I think this system has a more NW to SE precipitation movement vs just looking due West. I was concerned we wouldn't see any thing wintry and would be on the Southern edge of anything.

Light sleet with a flake or two has been falling the past 30 min. as a band as broke out. I'm right along the edge of Germantown in Clarksburg on Ridge Rd. Will be interesting how much NW to SE band movement we see. Edit starting to pick up can hear the sleet pinging the roof.

Same just a few miles down the road from you in Germantown (Ridge Rd)

Just up the road from you in Germantown on Ridge Road heading to Clarksburg/Damascus we're a little closer to the darker blues. Hoping for some higher end IMBY.

Hasn't been that long Winter 19/21/22. This might be the first truly wide spread 6+ inches though.

996mb Low off the coast appears to be in no hurry to move out. It's moved back to the coast. Top pic is current placement.

A little over 8 of exit 16 (Milestone) Germantown/Clarksburg

1000mb LP centered just onshore Southern Outer Banks let's see if it can strengthen should head NE til about the VA Cape than ENE looking at the isobars
-
It is has maybe moved 2-3mi north or South but just a constant jet streak. The upper level dynamics around that have got to be interesting.
