Just saw a PNS report of 3.9 near Poughkeepsie on .13 water. So this stuff is ~30-1.

Update. Absolute blower pow here. Lightest snow I can remember in quite some time. Feels like I’m shoveling nothing. Over 4 inches and might be the biggest of the year go figure. These are my favorite snowfalls these high ratio surprise over-performers. Won’t stick around long tho.

Very surprised here. Big time over performer. Eyeballing 4-5” of what looks like pure fluff.

Will be at Arapahoe Basin tomorrow. Deciding between Taos or Wolf Creek for Saturday. Both received 2-3 feet of super light fluffy pow yesterday. Rumor has it Taos may open Kachina. Will report back over the weekend.

Any thoughts on the southern green ski resorts: Stratton, mt snow? I know a lot of people headed up this weekend. Drive up Friday doable and they mostly snow?
Looks like a hell of a lot of mixing. And a sharp cutoff that seems modeled in southern Rutland county right now

Thanks! Woodford is pretty much the snow capital of southern Vermont, so I would trust the measurements from there more than the ski areas.
Yea that Place is awesome they get monster storms frequently.

Was there any word from Mitch about his totals in Vermont?
Woodford reported 3 or 4. Mount snow reports have been tough to dissect this year but looked like 4-6” total I think.

Been reading through the thread about the suspicious reports. Throwing a guess out there. Any chance strong Northeast winds blow the heaviest snow away from the best banding showing up on radar a few miles?
-
That band in Worcester is awesome that has to be some terrain up-sloping. They always cash in on these coastal storms. Also Mount Katahdin and Baxter State park is getting annihilated right now.

3 inches or so here. Sugary arctic powder blown all over. Family in Marshfield has 2 feet and they’ll end up over 30.

My son just skied ABasin and said it was great although they still need more snow to cover some of the rocks but he said the mountain was skiing great! I’m heading out there in Feb. I’ll probs hit Stratton or Windham Sunday. Hope they get some snow. Need a mountain dumper!!!Great to hear! Looks like they are getting snow Wednesday before I go should be awesome.

Family said 16” in Marshfield at 1:45. I bet they are near 2 feet and getting absolutely crushed right now. I bet 30+ for them. 6 foot drift in-front of the garage. All timer for them and absolutely epic for Eastern Mass congrats!

Snowing steadily eyeballing maybe 2” or so it looks like but I haven’t went out to measure. Definitely some drifts in the driveway and some strong gusts.

Best of luck New England crew. I’ll send pics I get from family in Marshfield they are inland near the Pembroke line. Thoughts on Logan breaking the all time record?

Today was a reminder of why i chose Jay as my home mountain. Everyone is chasing a “bomb cyclone”, aka snowstorm, and Jay quietly says, I’m all good here. The woods are sick right now with untouched lines everywhere. Natural trails are soft and full of snow and you could ski right on to the flyer all day. Really great conditions and a reminder that while I love Stowe, Killington and the like, when the snow is good, Jay has the best glades hands down.
Looks awesome! I’ll be sending my conditions report from Arapahoe Basin next Friday. Crossing my fingers but looks like they could get a pretty good dump on Wednesday.

The HREF probability matched mean is 3 feet for the south shore. Does anyone know when the IBM-GRAF runs and is it useful?

Was thinking about driving up to Mount Snow today but never did. Will be there next weekend can’t wait. Gore seemed to make out really well. They’re reporting “11+“ but there are three reports on the PNS of 13, 13.7 and 16 all right near gore at lower elevations. I have a very difficult time believing up near the summit at 3600 only had 11. I think they only measure at the base throw out a ballpark number and really aren’t precise with measuring like a lot of these other resorts such as Stowe. Anyways awesome base building storm that spread the love well for ski country.

ALY bumped up totals a bit in SVT. Went from 4-5" earlier here to 12" now. I don't see that happening in the valley. Also some 18-24" in the Stratton zone, this thing is moving pretty quick for 2ft. Seems a liittle aggressive, even if we can add some backside upslope. Going to be interesting to see this how this plays out across the area with all the terrain nuances that will be even more in play than normal with this event.
One thing I know is to never underestimate that area of southern Vermont during a setup like this they almost always over-perform. The terrain there seems to work wonders so even though it’s a quick hit I wouldn’t be surprised if they have some crazy rates for a few hours with the upslope assist. You know that area much better than me but I’ll be skiing Mount Snow next weekend so I’m optimistically saying they get 18+.

“Only” down to 1 here this morning but should get below 0 tomorrow morning. Anyways did some snooping around on Wundermap this morning looking at some of the typically coldest stations I am aware of across the entire northeast. The Tug Hill plateau, several areas in the Adirondacks, Diamond Pond NH and the Saddleback base area ~2600’ are always contenders off the top of my head. I took a screenshot of the coldest I found. These two stations are located around 2200 feet on Cascade Road coming into lake placid sandwiched in between a couple 4000+’ peaks. Perfect recipe for frigid temps.

The vibe at Abasin is something else. That place is special and the terrain is awesome. I can’t imagine Hitting it on a powder day. My friend moved out to CO recently and has been liking winter park more and more as well. He rates it highly.
