  1. I'm not going down that road. Would be nice to see Biden make some mention of it in his speech tonight. He campaigned in a cautious way during this pandemic, so it would be good to tell those out in the streets who voted for him to remember that we are in a pandemic. The crowds may be out there again tomorrow and maybe even after that.
  2. Had CNN on earlier and they noted the lack of social distancing while pointing out the vast majority were wearing masks. It's not excusable though, and it's happening in umpteen places across the country right now. Biden is walking into a tremendous mess. There's no telling how bad this will be in 2 1/2 months.
  3. The mask wearing looks pretty good, but the social distsncing aspect gets an F grade. Yelling/screaming obviously not advised either even when wearing a mask.
  4. In covid news, over 12,000 cases in Illinois today. Really the entire heartland is spinning into a bad situation.
  5. Obviously have to factor in population and the amount of testing, but nonetheless, the 1 day record for cases in a state is just over 15k in Florida. It looks like Illinois may end up passing that mark sometime fairly soon.
  6. At the rate we're going, would not be surprised to see some areas with a stay at home. Not that it would be enforced well, but just saying.
  7. Doesn't feel like it... probably because it hasn't been in the 80s like March 2012. Will be interesting to see how it ends up comparing in a relative sense.
  8. Over 12,000 new cases in Illinois.
  9. Virtual Christmas will be a blast.
  10. JB (not that one) sounding the alarm. I'm sure this would go over well. Gov. Pritzker Says He Can't Rule Out Stay-at-Home Order in Coming Weeks "I'm not looking at the broader mitigation of stay-at-home as something I would do in the coming days or week, but I can't guarantee you what it looks like two weeks from now or three weeks from now - I just don't know" https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/coronavirus/gov-pritzker-says-he-cant-rule-out-stay-at-home-order-in-coming-weeks/2365433/?amp
  11. The packed in crowds standing still on the streets won't help, masked or not. I guess it is getting out of control anyway.
  12. Record day in IN with 5k cases.
  13. That statement by Gottlieb surprised me a bit. Early on we were catching about 1 in 10 infections at best, maybe not even that many, but it is discouraging to think that it could still be 1 in 5.
  14. We are months away from peaking, barring some interventions.
  15. About 55k hospitalizations nationwide, roughly 5k less than the summer peak.
  16. I think Dr. Birx has been touring the country. But overall it seems that states are on their own now more than ever. I will repeat what I said a while back though. Whether or not we eventually have a President Biden, there is only so much that can be done when a chunk of the population has never bought into all this and a lot of other people are just tired of it all. Europe is a prime example of what happens when you let up.
  17. Definitely heading over 120k with a shot at 130k.
  18. The same Eta that made landfall way down in Nicaragua as a category 4. Why not, because 2020
  19. The first 10k day of who knows how many.
  20. Not assigning blame to anybody in particular, but if mail-in balloting is going to become more and more popular (granted this election is probably going to end up being a bit of a fluke in terms of the volume of mail-in ballots), something ought to be done to speed up the process. Start processing earlier, etc. Whatever states like Florida and some others did seems to have worked pretty efficiently. We shouldn't have to wait 3+ days to declare an official winner even though it is obvious where this is going.
  21. Also hit 2,000 hospitalizations for the first time.
  22. A Missouri elections supervisor who knew they tested positive for the coronavirus and still worked at a polling site Election Day has died. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/missouri-poll-worker-positive-covid-19-still-worked-shift-died-n1246620
  23. For the sake of the nation and providing faith in the process, I think it would be better for Trump to come back and win in Arizona. Would delegitimize the argument about all the states switching late to Biden. But die hards will always believe what they want.
  24. We had about 92k last Thursday. Appears like we're headed for 115k or more today. Based on day to day trends and past trends on Fridays, I don't think we can rule out something like 130-140k tomorrow.
