  1. I had to go to Lowes due to a broken toilet handle. There was a huge line of folks inside waiting for a generator shipment to come in. Poor souls. I did see some flurries and light sleet while out. That was about it.
  2. Reading 33 but put a wet mat out to dry and it froze up. Stiff NE breeze, definitely feels like a building CAD.
  3. We'll have to see what happens with the potential for us to have much less precip, but my forecast from the NWS looks like something from the late 70's or 1980 something. Snow, sleet, freezing rain complete mix is old school for a lot of us. We'll see if it plays out that way, and as always hoping for more snow.
  4. I had to stop by Lowes in Statesville for non-storm related stuff, but lady at checkout said they were out of generators already. They might get more, but that gives you an idea. If anyone needs one, I would start looking around soon. Looked like holiday traffic on US 21.
  5. I did my part; washed both vehicles today. That should help bring on some kind of precipitation.
  6. I mean I would say it could trend NW, but when you are on a losing streak you don't expect to make the next shot or for the line drive to fine grass. That's where we are.
  7. Our snow luck has to turn at some point; why not 2026!
  8. light snow and snow pellets here, some folks call it graupel, I call it snow pellets
  9. Actually had light snow you could see without really looking hard for a few mins. Now just drizzle.
  10. It's interesting because I was thinking about the winters of the late 70's and 80's, and one of the things I recalled was a lot more small events. Also ice storms or icing events were common. I remember as a kid; older folks complaining that we never got good snows anymore; we just always got ice or a mix. But for sure we had some really good winters. Another thing I recall is being told not to look much for snow before Christmas and looking back we didn't have much snow prior to January. That's anecdotal but I think I saw a post yesterday that showed that. It's odd because even though the last 25 years have overall not been good, we have had some nice December snows. Anyway, I don't know what any of it means, but I do think we go through cycles and longer patterns. Anyway, I'd like to order another 86-87 winter but would also take a 2009-10.
  11. I don't have a weather station, just an indoor/outdoor set up. So I usually eyeball some local weather stations on Weather Underground when I am really curious on temps. This morning north of 40 in Iredell ranged from 33 to 38. I showed 38 too at home. The 33 station is very close by - looks like it is down in a valley where the S Yadkin cuts through. The point being location is huge difference maker on nights like last night as others were saying. The variance is pretty wild to us weather nerds I guess. Lots of scattered frost this week, but looks like November again this year before we get a killing frost/freeze.
  12. I'm for about any weather that sends the stinkbugs back into their holes.
  13. RIP to a board legend. Condolences to the family.
  14. Back in late April, I thought we were headed to a big dry spell. We had just missed on rain here and the upcoming days looked dry. So far for May, I am at 3.95 inch of rain. Nice turnaround, and everything is green and growing.
  15. I was shocked to measure 1.5" on deck rail and car top. We did just a little better being to the east more I guess. There was a dusting from the night before, but most from this morning.
  16. 30 mins ago it appeared to be getting really light, then it started pouring snow. Huge flakes, its beautiful.
  17. I'd say moderate snow here with some sleet earlier. Laying quickly on the dusting from yesterday evening.
  18. I almost typed aleeet but wasnt sure if folks would get it!
  19. My point and click NWS forecast says 90% chance of snow on Wednesday and could be heavy at times. Kind of surprised by that. I expected it to temper back some if anything. Hopefully they see something us amateurs don't. Granted I am technically NW Piedmont but very close to foothills.
  20. Seems early to be too sure one way or the other; I'll ride it out a bit longer. Even Brad P left a little NW trend wiggle room.
