Winter 2023-24 Longrange Discussion
hardypalmguy replied to michsnowfreak's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
December will disappoint you in the Great Lakes if you want snow. -
Yikes, this week's big "cooldown" vaporized like Sarah Connor in the opening scene of Terminator 2. Like I said, modest cooldown this week, then back to regularly scheduled torch.

Fall 2023 Medium/Long Range Discussion
hardypalmguy replied to Chicago Storm's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
Yup still out and free. These saw 19 degrees with the Halloween storm. Several more nights in the low to mid 20s. -
MKE recently has turned into Cincinnati-lite climatewise.

Looks like a modest cooldown next week, then warming up significantly with possible torch conditions as we approach middle of December. -
Thank you

1990 USDA zone map had all of SW MI in zone 5.
-
Yeah, zone 7 appearing in Michigan for first time ever is a nothingburger.
-
I've posted nothing but backed up facts regarding the USDA zone changes and how the long range models look. You're rhetoric is because you want an echo chamber of groupthink.
-
Outside a modest cooldown next two weeks, the warmth looks to come surging right back.
-
It’s designated zone 7a for a reason. There are criteria that need to be met. Even Florida has seen below zero weather in the past. You guys are grasping at straws to not accept the new reality coming.
-
The truth is in your face and you can’t accept it. That’s what’s ridiculous.
-
That strip in SW MI/NW IN could be 8a in 10 years.

New USDA zone maps came out and I've been upgraded to zone 6a, and I see zone 7a emerging on the SW shore of Lake Michigan in SW Michigan. Windmill palms are rated down to zone 7. It's coming quicker than we think. @TheClimateChanger

climate change. SW michigan is zone 7 now per just released USDA map.

Yes. So much this. And the warming from the 1980s has been impressive as well.

Ready to torch. No sight of winter in long range. -
Others here agree with me…

He says we aren’t warming. We are. I’ve posted data. He’s in denial.

Palms are already surviving in Cincinnati, OH unprotected per my zone pushing groups I am a member of. That's a pretty far north push.

For Michsnowfreak and other deniers on our warmer and wetter climate that is happening fast in last 20 years. Stop seeing the extra snow which is only happening because we have good temp padding (to start) in a warmer and wetter climate. Once we reach that tipping point of liquid to frozen predominance we will quickly crash in yearly snowfall totals in the future. MKE avg high in January is already tickling 32. That means December and February already average way into the 30s for highs. Those months will be the first to see snow averages crash. https://fox11online.com/weather/weather-stories/warmer-wetter-winters-a-preview-to-patrick-powells-2023-winter-weather-forecast-national-oceanic-atmospheric-administration-arctic-green-bay-jet-stream?fbclid=IwAR0Cyuq69rWJu1DC-J9IEn5W54buYmw_DsCKH5fDEt6VDR3JHuZPFvc_aVo_aem_ASQvL06fjJVw8wd3pqVUVS7SxyweszA_ShuMkeQoVH-4oQ82q3hLsd2SzJp4_wJeFvI
