  1. Here is video of the storm I experienced last week on OBX. (confirmed wind gust of 78 mph at this location. I was about 15 miles south...from what I see here the conditions I experienced were identical.)
  2. No video...storm came in crazy fast...saw on NWS Morehead City's page that it was moving 60 mph. I'm honestly not sure I've ever been in stronger winds. Storm was warned for 70 mph but it "seemed" stronger. Let me tell you, it's quite a site to see deck furniture flying through the air off of 3rd floor decks. Power came back after being out for 4 hours but it is pouring again and there is high water everywhere. It was a severe weather nut's dream evening here on OBX. I wasn't all that thrilled.
  3. @daxx you would have been giddy to experience the storm that rolled through down here. Zero visibility between the rain and wind and then throw the CTG lighting over the ocean...
  4. Power is out here on this part of OBX as one of the worst storms I've experienced just plowed through here. Adirondack style chairs (not the genuine, heavy ones but still) were flying off of house decks and landing in yards across our street. Everything that was on our pool deck is in the pool including a large rubber mat that somehow was lifted off the deck and dropped in. I'm probably not the best at guessing wind speeds but I'm pretty certain we had hurricane force gusts. This storm would have leveled a lot of trees on Front Street in the 'Burg...
  5. 4 perfect days and counting here in Kill Devil Hills NC...temps in the 80s, a sustained SW breeze around 15mph and wall to wall sun. Storms are possible here the next couple of days.
  6. That's interesting...we're heading for OBX on Saturday but in the past, this was our week to go to Rehoboth Beach. I've been doing it for a LOT of years, and I've found that the ocean is usually between 63-67 in mid-June. Obviously it varies year to year, but the numbers you have above seem right in line to me based off my memory. Maybe that's the problem...my memory. You getting any boomers out there?
  7. I didn't here in western Lancaster county... Maybe our Cumberland county friends did?
  8. Today is one of the most refreshing, invigorating June days since well...early last week. Perfection for this time of year...
  9. Heading to OBX next Saturday for a week. They have just come out of some record-setting heat with temps at or near 100 for days. Hoping it is a good deal cooler because it will undoubtedly be humid down there.
  10. My air runs from about March 1st through November. But I like my house to feel like Lambeau Field in January.
  11. Agreed, though CTP is mentioning heavy rainfall from Sunday into early next week. Sterling is actually talking about flooding concerns down that way.

  13. Awesome stuff right there! I ended up with 2.5" of rain over the weekend, 3.1" over the last week.
  14. Looking forward to a 2 day fall preview tomorrow and Tuesday.
  15. I just came on to post the same thing. I've surpassed the entire week's amount in the past 20 minutes.
  16. https://www.weather.gov/ctp/TornadoOutbreak_May311985 Here you go! (if I didn't link that correctly, it's at the top of CTP's home page under "News Headlines")
  17. @mappy posted a another good map this morning in her sub that shows the proliferation of tornadoes over the eastern half of PA.
  18. Today marks the 34th anniversary of one of the most catastrophic, frightening days in PA weather history. I was 18 at the time and was relying on my NOAA weather radio to follow the great tornado outbreak of 1985... Still the only time an F5 struck the Commonwealth.
  19. Ended up with a trace of rain yesterday, and that's generous. I think exposed areas of pavement (away from trees) were wet for 2 minutes. .6" for the entire week.
  20. We have one more day to go... I think that might be from yesterday?
  21. I feel extremely fortunate through the first 2 days of all of this...a total of .6" of rain, no hail, no wind, and nothing out of the ordinary.
  22. You get out west of the Susquehanna and there's a stretch that the pike is 3 lanes in each direction...also, once in the Cumberland Valley you'll have some open spaces where you'll be able to see for miles...
  23. Match was lit up here in PA over the past hour. Storms are firing quickly in the mountains north of UNV...
