View just now from my deck. Front end loader is gearing up for flooding by plowing sand and putting down gravel for traction to help those of us near the ocean to get out.
First rain of the week last night- nice again today but the weather looks ominous for driving home Saturday. Heavy, flooding rains expected to arrive later tomorrow continuing into the weekend.
Yes! You got it - very common summer weather pattern where activity forms just inland and slowly migrates further west. It was quite dark across the sound around lunchtime but it was nice right here on the coast. It's cleared out everywhere around us now.
Taking what? It's beautiful here. Sunny and 85. Winds are out of the west today but we should get our sea breeze back tomorrow. Not a drop of rain so far and little chance of any until Thursday or Friday.
I lied about my next observation- it's pouring here with CTG lightning and booming thunder. Far better than anything yesterday even if my total ends up rather meager.
Leaving EARLY tomorrow morning - next week looks Mostly Sunny with the daily 30% chance of a shower and highs around 80. I'm stoked!
Next obs will be from Rodanthe, NC.
.19" for me - I had to go down to Columbia last evening and as soon as I descended Chickies Hill it started raining. By the time I got to the grocery store on 462 it was a deluge. Got home an hour later...nothing.
My ass is leaving town on the 12th. Would have loved to experience the surf from that.
First storm consisted of zero wind, 2 rumbles of thunder, and .12" of rain.
Yeah, that thing blew up in York county and moved into Lancaster just south of me. I'm waiting on this next cell in central York to get here...sky has grown dark.
When I look at these maps - what I am looking at? What am I looking for?
In other words...what is this telling me? Thanks in advance, I know oh so little about severe. (Canderson helped me out a lot a couple weeks back)
