  1. I never thought we had run the clock out on big time heat. If the Steelers are going to be the analogy of this week's weather...well, I can't think of a worse team in football to run out the clock than the black and gold. Hopefully, after this week we build large enough leads that we don't have to worry about running out the clock.
  2. Not sure if MDT reaches the century mark, but I fully expect locations in the LSV to reach or exceed that mark...dependent on copious amounts of sun, of course.
  3. CTP's disco this morning mentions the possibility of an Excessive Heat Warning (1st of the year) by Thursday: Our latest forecast has max heat index values reaching 100-104F advisory range on Wednesday with excessive heat warning criteria possible on Thursday. Heat headlines are likely to be issued by the dayshift.
  4. Sure did! I was out front watering last evening and watching the towers just sit there. I arrived at work this morning to a nice little shower. Nothing at home.
  5. I thought the same thing over the weekend when I saw we were on the same page over multiple days. Everyone is resting up now for the big winter...
  6. Just hit 90. Looks like this is day #2 of at least 6 straight days of 90+ temps.
  7. Question is - who and when will people receive rainfall? Seems like some water is a good bet for some folks, but then again, many might not get anything until the weekend at least.
  8. After reaching 92 yesterday, today looks like it'll be close to 90 again. Rest of the work week looks like 90 is pretty much a given, with highs later in the week reaching the mid 90s...at least.
  9. 83/66 here...dewpoint is relatively unchanged since early yesterday.
  10. And yet again, we had the exact same high temps. Seriously, it happens almost every day.
  11. Same story, different year. This team is one injury away to #7 from being truly awful instead of just mediocre.
  12. I reached 92 today as well. Great info on the tornado outbreak on 7/29. It was quite a day across the Commonwealth...of course, nothing like 5/31/1985. I have such vivid memories of that day watching the killer twisters in western and central PA and wondering if we were going to get in on the action here in the LSV. Fortunately, we did not.
  13. I found this from the World Meteorological Organization: (this is more in line with your idea) No formal, standardized definition of a heat wave exists. The World Meteorological Organization defines it as five or more consecutive days during which the daily maximum temperature surpasses the average maximum temperature by 5 °C (9 °F) or more. Some countries have adopted their own standards.
  14. "Official" designation is what - 3 consecutive days above 90? I agree with your thought process...reaching 90 has become almost routine. (save for a few cooler stretches like we've enjoyed this summer) but still...many days at or above 90 this year.
  15. Point and click for this afternoon is 87 - currently 92...
  16. 87 here at 12:45pm - honestly surprised it's not a couple of degrees higher. Not complaining.
  17. I could feel the difference as soon as I walked outside this morning - it's going to be a hot afternoon. Dews are headed up with the temp.
  18. We were on the river trail this evening and I'm pretty sure that I saw every breed of dog represented.
  19. Yawn. I was outside all evening enjoying myself. 89/56 here today. You know, me and @mahantango#1are usually almost identical on high temps every day. Lows are a different story.
  20. Yep. Bring it on. Up to 89 here, 6 degrees above the projected high. I've had many days in the 5-7 degree range above predictions.
  21. Humidity is still tolerable today, which is a good thing...it's up to 87 here already. Well above the projected high, and it's going to be a close call to 90.
