  1. The average date of the first temperature below 60 is August 22 in the Triad. We were about two weeks late this year.
  2. 57 degree lows at RDU and GSO this morning, the coolest since late June.
  3. 78/57. Glorious sun. I actually got chilly eating outside in shade. That breeze gave me goosebumps
  4. A glorious, crisp 79 degrees this sunny afternoon in Winston-Salem. September is glorious!
  5. The Great “Blizzard” of 2000 has to be #1 for me.
  6. If we have to have hot weather, I prefer it happen like this year. A mild to chilly May and July. A very humid and somewhat above normal July, but nothing record-breaking, most not reaching 100. A wet and mild August. Now, cross your fingers September doesn’t pull nasty heat out of the late season bag of tricks.
  7. One of the most shocking events in RDU weather history. Top three.
  8. First day with highs in the 70s since June
  9. RAH: Cooler temperatures are expected today! Highs in the upper 70s are expected over north-central NC, especially along and north of I-85. The last time we had highs < 80F was June 18 at GSO (76F) and June 17 at RDU (also 76F). Enjoy this brief taste of September-like temps! #ncwx https://t.co/PJ3aMnZ8AJ
  10. A backdoor cold front will sweep down the Southern Appalachians Sat night, bringing lower dew points and seasonably cool air. Asheville could drop below 60°F Monday morning for the first time since June 26th, and a few high elevation peaks could fall into the low-to-mid 40s #NCwx https://t.co/gYcAunPIps
  11. So when does next big cold front bring relief?
  12. Eric Webb: We really need to stop w/ these big East Coast Rex blocks before September comes around. https://t.co/umCpsrcSas
  13. Looks like Wall-to-wall heat for the next two weeks.
  14. The Triad has not hit 90 degrees this year yet. That will likely change tomorrow.
  15. Which model is NBC Washington using? They have us roasting around 100 by the end of the 10-day. They have been constantly predicting big heat waves in the longrange over the last three weeks.
