I had a basic plastic gauge until a few years ago, but I left it out in the cold while full and it developed a bunch of cracks. I’m not *quite* weather-geeky/freaky enough to drop the coin for a fancy setup , but I should at least get another basic one!
MNTransplant recommended this to me several years ago. My kind of instrument because it's plenty affordable and very accurate. Not to mention it's cool checking out the maps.

Rainiest July at BWI was 11.03" in 1889, which will be blown out today. August 1933 is up for grabs too I think.
Thanks.

2.68" for total of 10.31". Still raining.

Someone can check me on this, but I'm pretty sure that BWI (previously the State House) surpassed their rainiest July ever (10.65" in 1905) this evening, and is now less than 3" from its rainiest month ever (13.83" in August 1933).
That persistent plume along the western bay this afternoon and evening needs to shift east or west to give the basements in these parts a break. I'm closing in on 11" for the past 3 days.

i am over seven inches since midday Saturday . Was slowish getting going but from Saturday evening to now has been waves of rain.
I didn't take a direct hit from this most recent wave, but now over 8" here. Fortunately these are all fast movers.

Yea, it's an abandoned golf course so there's about 4 or 5 water hazards that you can walk. I've always parked on Duffer Way and then I go and fish them. Got some bass around 16" in them...top water plugs work well.
Wow. Good to know! Hopefully you catch and release.

If you don't mind a drive:
1.) Pond in front of Pleasant Valley Fire Department (Carroll County)
Is that pond public? I might want to check it out.
On topic, a quick tropical downpour here and now blue skies.

One of my tomato plants is toast. It's funny how too much water makes the tomato plant look exactly like one that hasn't received enough water. Hopefully it's only the one that dies this week, especially because the others are loaded with green fruit.

Another .82" to bring the two-day total to 7.63"

Good grief. I already miss yeterday’s northeast winds. Cooking out this afternoon and it’s hot and humid as f.

Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see when all the reports are compiled. The early CoCoRaHS reports from your area are in line with my ob. You got hit harder earlier, and I think I caught up later.
6.81" here and most of that came between 9pm and midnight. It must have been a very narrow band because the CoCoRaHS obs not too far from here are 3-4" lower.
-
I'll be shocked if my tomato plants survive this. There is 3" of standing water in my garden now and my Cocorahs rain gauge is 60% full. I'll wait until morning to wade out there to get a measure.

I've been in this house for 14 years and there have been some decent flooding events, but this is as bad as my yard has ever been. Most of it is under water. I also went down into the basement and broke the thin layer of concrete in the area over the French drain where the dripping water isn't getting into the corrugated plastic along the walls. Now it's getting into the drain and the sump pump is draining it into a flooded area of the yard. Good times!
But the new roof that High Stakes's company put on is keeping the inside dry!

You've been under a thin but really potent band man for a while. Don't float away unless its beer doing it
Way ahead of you on beers, and just starting taking on some water in the basement. It's not too bad and the French drain is collecting almost all of it, but a little is seeping in. I'm just glad that it's here and not Ellicott City.

2.03" so far. Looks like it might be winding down here. Sort of in a dry slot, although still some showers rotating through, but nothing heavy. Sucks Dover radar is offline(it is way too often during actual events) which makes it a bit difficult to see whats happening. It was pouring earlier, and looking at both Sterling and Mt Holly radar, it looked like drizzle here lol.
I think I'm going to need a pivot myself.

64/63 with 0.34" so far.
Feels like a fall day today. Amazing for late July.
Wow, I'm surprised we have such a discrepancy. I just checked and .82" here so far, and while I was out there, my garden smiled at me.

We are overloaded with cucumbers and shortly will be with tomatoes. Our garlic was phenomenal once again with over a 95% success rate and 78 heads of garlic harvested. We are going to dry the garlic and will have a fresh stock for the winter. Our Long Island Cheese pumpkins are also doing well.
I’ve had good success with garlic too, but how do you store it?

The 06z 3km NAM is a hilarious DC split.
I'd cash in with the current hrrr for my backyard, but this is looking like there's going to be a lot of frustration across the area this afternoon.

18z NAM has a nice blow-up of storms around 18z tomorrow.
Most of the guidance from the gfs and nam that I've seen over the past five or so days shows those storms developing along and east of 95 leaving the corridor between 81 and 95 void of any appreciable rain.
I'm not saying that'll happen, but I'm tempering any enthusiasm. Hopefully we all get a soaker tomorrow.

A few hundredths here but it was enough to keep me cool while I cut the grass.
0.67" for the month of July so far.

It can’t happen soon enough. We are back under heavy returns. So far we’ve been fortunate here and have a lot of standing water in the yard, but the sump pump has handled the basement other than wall seepage that I took care of by breaking up the thin concrete over the French drain.
My friends and neighbors haven’t been so lucky. My next door neighbor had 3 feet of water in her basement yesterday when a gfi switch kicked and turned off her pump. And my friend down the street had her sump pump go on the fritz last night and was up all night keeping her finished basement semi dry with a vacuum. The plumber is there now as I type putting in a new floatless pump and replacing the battery on the backup.
But I’m clogging the thread. I want to hear npz complain some more.
