It’s going to be a good week for the gardens around here. Ours is looking good. This is the main garden but all the other stuff is doing well also.

I just finished watering and am hearing my first of the year now too. Actually, several.

I’d think some would be interested to know if it is substantially lower than on July 5th after all the sulphur. Though I think they’ve shown that fireworks don’t make it rain.

So far, yes, I’d agree.

Minimizing the grass area is right in line with my thinking. He’s got some large trees on the property that shade a pretty much a large dirt area. I was going to suggest mulching a pretty large area and putting it in some azaleas and other plants that tolerate shade, and maybe a swing set or something for his two young daughters. There is a smaller lower area that gets plenty of sun and does seem to have better soil because what is there does at least grow. He will definitely put in some type of fire pit. As we get closer to September I’ll post a few pictures and ask for more suggestions. By the way, when I lived in Arizona for a short time, I loved the look of the hardscapes. You should go all NPZ and plant cactus.

Moving this over here, but a friend of mine is moving back from England after a three year placement and bought a house in Severna Park. He’s been delayed because of the virus so I’ve been cutting his “lawn” the past couple of months, and it’s a wreck. The soil there seems really sandy and dry. I’d have no idea what grass to recommend when we aerate and seed this fall.

I think sunscreen is a pain in ass, but I wish I had worn more of it as a youngster. I had basal cell removed about 5 years ago and fortunately the hole that they took from my face was right on my smile line so there’s no scar. As invincible as I felt in my early life, I’m doubly humble now.

Knocking on wood as I type this, but the garden is looking really good so far. A lot of green tomatoes already set, and several varieties of peppers too. The mystery squash plant is going crazy (by how much it’s running, I’m assuming it’s a decorative gourd that rotted last year), but the pumpkins haven’t taken off yet. Hoping to have about six sugar pumpkins by mid September for brewing. If not, I may have to go steal some from @frd one night.

An exciting day over here. I just helped the duct work guy hoist a new air handler in the attic, and the new outside unit is already installed, so we are crossing our fingers that we will have AC in the upstairs again soon. Maybe I’ll set it a little lower than normal tonight to get an extra good night’s sleep.

We had a wonderful day on the beach at assateague today, and then drove north on the back roads to Dewey. Sitting outside sharing a few 5 oz’ers and having dinner at Dewey Brewing Co. Perfect evening for being outside.

@C.A.P.E. and @WxUSAF Ugh. Too much brew. I’m so full. Damn @Scraff’s buddy gave me capless brews coming off the canning line because who wants to waste beer? Anyway, tomorrow is a beach day and then heading home via Dewey Brewing Co if anyone wants to meet up. It’ll be later in the afternoon to take advantage of a full sunny day, but we are a little flexible. Let us know if you’re in the interested. We could always stay the night in Dewey or on the home. #summeristhebest
