  1. Dryness is easily at 2016 levels here. No surface water remains in any ponds near my house. They are totally dry. Not sure how the wildlife is coping with it. Even larger creeks/streams have very little flow remaining. I had 5.23" of rain in August, none at all in September, and only 0.54" in October. 7 Day WPC is also bone dry. Yikes.

Hit 87 today. I feel like Friday is almost guaranteed to be 90+ but I'm holding out hope for a summer sweep.

The GFS was 10-20 degrees too warm across the region a few days ago. It tends to go way to extreme with cold and heat since the last upgrade.

Yeah it seems very unlikely that we hit 100 here. So far my warmest day has been 92 with this heat wave. I actually hit 95 back at the end of July with an 80 degree DP. That was the hottest day of the year so far. Calculated HI of 115. I'm sure my PWS was exaggerating the DP, but that was a brutal day. The DP's have been lower with this round of heat.

You can click on the timestamp on the bottom right and it brings up a calendar where you go chose the date and time. Pretty cool.

I must not be paying for this feature. I think I grandfathered into Pro Tier 1, not Tier 2 because I loathe subscriptions. I've had the app since 2015 I think.

EDIT: Nevermind. I don't even have tier 1. Apparently there are two subscription levels now.

I live probably about 2 miles north of where the Tornado went through and had no idea it was happening at the time. Luckily, the wind wasn't too bad at my house, we just received around 1.2" of rain in about 20 minutes.

Nobody knew it was happening. It was a rare miss by MRX. No warning was issued.

It’s amazing how wet this summer has already been.  If we don’t dry out some it could set us up for some major flooding issues going into fall & winter.  Long way out but I don’t see the wet weather shutting off anytime soon.

I don't know about that. There has definitely been a lot of intense local flash flooding this summer, but all of the creeks and ponds around me are below normal levels. The MS river is also still really low. We would really need a more widespread precipitation event from a tropical system or two to bring about major flooding. Otherwise I suspect it will continue to be isolated to small areas that get dumped on. Like Union City yesterday or Greene County earlier this week.

In other news, 1.20" in the gauge today. We really needed it. The ground soaked it up like a sponge.

June is officially a shutout for 90+ temps IMBY. Only hit 86 today thanks to the MCS. I wish I knew what the statistics were on something like that. I bet it's rarely if ever happened before this far south.

And just like that the streak is over. 91.2 right now with a HI of 105. DP is soaring at 77.

One more day without a 90F reading, and TRI will pitch a shutout.  Temp tomorrow is supposed to be 89-90F....gonna be close.  Warmest temp at TRI was on June 3rd with 89.  IMO, we just dodged about four weeks of summer.  In my book, that is a win.

John, I like that kind of temperature bust.

Still holding on here too. We hit 89.2. A well timed shower or two over the next few days could mean mid July for the first 90 degree day.

  8. It has been hugely delayed in it's arrival. Still no 90 degree reading IMBY this year. That streak looks to come to an end on Thursday with a high of 94 predicted for KCHA. I typically run 2-4 degrees cooler. We almost made it to July 1 without seeing 90. I can't ever remember that happening before.

  9. Backtracking to the freeze damage conversation, I moved into a newly constructed house last fall with new landscaping. Of the 10 shrubs that were planted, only 4 remain visibly alive. 2 others have very little foliage, and the remaining 4 appear quite dead. I have also seen totally dead magnolia trees around town. Not sure if that's related.
