So, they won’t upload. But I uploaded it to Imgur I just can’t figure out how to embed it so here’s a link to the video. Hopefully you can actually tell how big the flakes were bc honestly I feel like the video doesn’t do them justice at all. Some of these were for sure like half dollar sized. SNOW VIDEO! CLICK ME!
Great video, love when it falls in huge chunks like that!

I'm struggling to get much above 3 inches after compaction and re-powdering. Light snow still falling.

I've really enjoyed this backside stuff. That was not a euphemism.

I really can't complain much about the event for here, it's been fun. Got about 2 inches before the lull. A period of freezing drizzle glazed elevated surfaces and crusted the snow with some heavy sleet mixed in for good measure. Now the backside is providing moderate snow with dimes mixed in, building up the totals again. Closing in on 3 inches currently with the radar showing a little more fun on the way. I have to say it was a good day.

I've transitioned to a snow mix in Halls.

As those heavier returns over middle TN move overhead...more reports of snow now popping up.
I sure hope that's how it unfolds here. Getting some pretty heavy sleet at the moment.

I had the freezing drizzle/mist earlier then it changed to moderate sleet. It'll be interesting to see if these heavier returns are more sleet or snow. Either much preferred over zr. Looks like the HRRR was correct in terms of radar reflections as it's filling in nicely after the lull.

I'm at 2 inches in Halls with the dry slot fine flakes. The current HRRR suggests that some pretty good intensification is on the way, hopefully in the form of pure snow.

This looks almost identical to the HRW Cams.
What's the brine QPF ratio looking like?

For Chattanooga, any mention of last January is hate speech, lol! I swear I'll shatter my device on the concrete driveway. Think Office Space fax machine 2025 tablet version.
18Z roundup didn't get any warmer by partial thickness or surface Ts. Even full thickness is no change. NAM is still spewing warm hate. That said 18Z NAM shows juust a wee bit of 850-700mb partial thickness improvement. GFS has the most snow. Euro may be the happy middle. Euro 18Z is a tick up for Chattanooga snow.
MRX probability charts in their EM briefing all went UP 2" 4" 6" but the most likely forecast went down. That's not totally illogical given the data. Warm nose risk is there. At the same time greater QPF is available if temps stay cold.
That's about it for me today. Happy forecasting to those who celebrate the 00Z and 06Z.
Cautious optimism continues. My device will survive. The kids will be sledding on a snow day Friday.

Warm weather, with some minor cooler interludes, is still on wash, rinse, repeat. Cooler nights have kept our overall average from torching. However, this is one of the warmest falls I can remember. It is definitely one of the driest Octobers as we have only had 0.36" of rain. This is a textbook La Nina fall.
My garden is happy as I got cool season seeds in the ground late and they need some help germinating. My wallet however is curled up in a fetal position sucking it's thumb as a result of the water bill.

Cold front coming through on Saturday, Cove Lake state park booked for camping this weekend. Hoping for some storms Friday night! Latter part of this summer has been quite nice I have to say.

I may have to build a fire Saturday night if the GFS verifies.

I was happy to not get flooded out at Dollywood today with my boys and I, just a period of light to moderate showers to cool things off. Looks dry and hot beyond the weekend for east TN but can't complain about the past week or so. What a rollercoaster of a summer in terms of drought and wetness. Just yesterday the creek next to my house was overflowing to the point of overtaking my carport, after crunchy dead grass the previous week. What a time to be alive.

Best rain day of the summer here today, picked up 2.82.

I'm at 2.67" for the month, an inch of that fell in the past 24 hours. The rain has been feast or famine around here. Pretty sure five miles down the road from me they are well over 6.

I'm happy to have some cooler temps but man, my location got very unlucky with the rain yesterday and today. Caryville, Greenback, and even Oak Ridge stole all my thunder! The storms would build and either fizzle or divert around Knox County leaving me with 0.06 today and less than 0.20 yesterday and night. Hopefully we get better luck with the rain the next several days.

Central/Northern valley convection seems to be going quasi linear coming off the plateau. Buckling up for some wind here.

Nearly every county with very few exceptions in the Huntsville DMA are under some type of severe or tornado warning right now.

That was a helluva frog strangler in Knox county. Fortunately no hail here that round.

Best week of winter I've had since moving to east TN in 1994. No complaints here at all. Now to find some fish that are biting.
