  1. Hasn't the "warm/hot & humid climate" always been 10 days out? Sounds like continuous cold last winter always being 10 days away. Every time you say "and on" or "and beyond" it lasts a few days and then we get a break. It's been like that all summer. Yeah it's been warm and AN but what's the longest stretch of HHH been this summer? 5-7 days?
  2. That 8/28/86 system is a standout. Even down here my high was 58° and the following morning the low was 34°. The low still stands at the record low for the date and month but the high was broken the next year with a high of only 56°.
  3. I've been reading all day and haven't read a single post calling for highs in the 50s & 60s all next week. I even went back three pages to this morning. Nope. Nada.
  4. Some years there is a metamorphosis phase where he doesn't post and then suddenly emerges from his cocoon.
  5. That's actually what I use for my daily record. I have an online station that has the smaller shield but I would like to upgrade to a FARS at some point. I generally don't have a problem with warmer maxes because I have a hill to my west so I lose the sun earlier than most people.
  6. Where are you seeing water temps for the Connecticut River at Rocky Hill?
  7. Interesting above normal band from Hartford/Tolland County to Boston in SNE. NNE could use a drink though.
  8. I'm still torn on what to do for my normals. For now I'm using my full 35 year record instead of a moving 30 year average. It's interesting in that the second half of the record averages about 0.4° warmer than the first half so if I look at a graph of monthly departures a lot of the months in the first half are BN. I do this one graph that I call the departure index which is a sum of the daily departures positive and negative for the month and you can really see which months are stand-outs and which ones are ho-hum.
  9. Is there rotation on the MA/CT border in Somers/East Longmeadow?
  10. Was very windy here in downtown Springfield with that cell.
  11. I thought the heat and 70+ Dp's were supposed to be endless after 8/15?
  12. Sure, but it's still cooler than the day before, hence a cool down for however short. I don't base my expectations on what I could have had. If that was the case I'm missing out on a lot of snow.
  13. Take a look at Tire Rack to see if you can find a tire there. I usually buy my tires there because they have a local warehouse and pick them up and have my local garage install them. Much cheaper than a tire store. I noticed that they have free shipping right now. I run two sets of tires - one for summer and studded/snow tires in winter. It forces me to rotate my tires and you really notice the extra traction in winter, even with AWD/FWD.
  14. It's still there...before warming back up again. It's been doing this all summer. We average AN but we get a break every once and a while.
  15. 0.53" here yesterday from one shower in the afternoon (1PM) and evening (10PM). Foggy 64° here this morning.
  16. How do you explain the mostly cloudy skies with showers earlier in Enfield, Somers and Stafford? Are those three town in SE CT? I'm glad I didn't wash my car only to have it rained on. How's that oak tree doing? If it's such a nice summer day, why are you out taking that down? Why wait till the fall when it's cooler?
  17. There's a reason why it's such a tourist mecca.
  18. Why wait? It's great summer weather to take it down!
  19. Any time there's a southerly component to the winds, we'll flip. There's nothing to your south to stop it. I have seem where you and I will be above freezing and places just to my north will stay below. It's because there's a higher plateau to their south that gives them a little blocking. The best track for us is right about the CC canal. Anything further west and we run the risk of mixing regardless of altitude.
