Dear Philly subforum members,
We will be merging the NYC and Philly subforums sometime in the next week. If you have any complaints please PM BxEngine. Thank you. And may the odds be ever in your favor.
Sincerely,
The AMWX staff
seriously?

yes.The Mid-Atlantic crew will never let that happen anyway. Never ever ever.

eh, nm...re-thinking this...in the past we always would get at least a little input from some red-taggers in the days leading up to and during an event...it's clear that's not going to happen anymore (DT's drive-by notwithstanding)...i really like the sort of smaller feel of the philly forum, and everybody is friendly and easy-going...we, for the most part, self-moderate pretty well and the amateurs that post in here are pretty knowledgeable...all that being said, it would be nice to get some pro-met analysis every now and again, and i guess we won't get that absent a merger...
to be clear, i do not think a merger with NY is ever going to be the right thing to do, but i'd be willing to reconsider a merger with the mid-atlantic...my $.02...

Fwiw....and im trying to word this carefully...if any of you need to pop into the nyc forum to discuss the storm, ask questions, etc...ill make sure you guys dont get the treatment you might receive in other places.
thanks bx...wouldn't want to get neff'ed

I end up having to read 3 boards (PA, mid Atlantic and Philly).
I kind of like keeping Philly separate. It's a lot easier to get good information from the hobbyists.

Im against the merge, meanie.
how'd the prime rib turn out?

well I bumped it for a reason...notice that after we hashed that out a year ago we seemed to be pretty content with the philly forum as it is...obviously we would love more posts but the idea of merging with ny has been pretty much nixed every time it's been brought up...There's a thread called "This forum is dead!". But to be fair I haven't read it since last winter.
-
really? Who from our forum has complained about a lack of posts?Great post Allsnow
-
oh yeah we took up a collection a while back and paid him to leave town...thought he'd a headed north...sorry about that...Just an outsider pov, wouldn't it make more sense to merge with, oh I don't know, the rest of the PA people instead of NY?
Totally blame you all for weatherguy aka cape may dude, aka AGW lover who **** up the MA forum until yesterday.
-
hey rjay...I think I'm right here...we went through this a couple of times last year...it's real quiet in here now because we are sitting at +14 or whatever...when there is actually something to talk about it's better...still not very high volume, but the threads are pretty informative and easy to navigate and relatively drama-free...merging with NY just seems like a bad idea...I mean, have you been in there?Sup Mac
It's to improve both subforums. I was strictly talking to the members of the nyc subfoum about the nyc subforum and why we should add to it. Tell yourself whatever you want though.
-
i get it now...just read the ny version of this thread...mods are pissed at the quality of the ny forum and are hoping that adding us reasonable philly folk will improve things...in other words, it has nothing to do with improving the Philly forum, and everything to do with trying to drown out the yanksfans of the world...that tells me everything I need to know...I hope people vote, or change their votes, accordingly...I don't understand why those in other forums care how active ours is. The few of us who remain here are content and get along with each other. So what's the issue?
The NYC forum does have some great posters. Unfortunately one has to weed through 90% bickering before reading anything of value.
-
why are ny people so invested in merging with philly? It would be like cats and dogs living together...mass hysteria, pretty much...what I'm saying is we're good...
