It is currently snowing lightly..ground is beginning to turn white...two snows before turkey day? I like it! I don't think it will amount to much . The a winter weather advisory has been posted - 1-4 inches of snow possible .

* WHAT...Snow is expected with a total snow accumulation of 1 to
4 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central and
southwest Missouri. The highest snowfall rates are expected
between midnight and 8 am. The heaviest snow is expected in the
Rolla and Salem areas with lesser amounts elsewhere.

A few flurries and some radar snow that's not reaching the ground so far .

Got to see some nice flakes but it only amounted to a dusting . Being this is still early season I consider it to be a bonus snow

I can't speak for the whole area but I can tell you that for Oklahoma City the period from 2015-2018 had the lowest three winter snow total on record there. It's been rough out there for snow lovers.

Thanks for info....I have been living here near West Plains, MO off n on for 38 yr and have never experienced such a snow-less period...I mean the total for the last three years is roughly 3" give or take . I'm thinking this has to be some kind of record . I surely hope this winter breaks the trend and Mom Nature makes up for the lack this year..

Don't write much but am an avid follower and love to read y'alls take/ input.      I have a question  about the lack of snow for the past three winters and it is,  has this ever happened before in this area? We are talking about the overall area that is covered here. I have not seen any snow consistency records , don't know if there is such. Just curious .  I'm thinking surely that we could not go another year on the skimpy snow can we?

5:30pm we have dreezing frizzle occurring now .  Roads in our area were treated earlier today so not slick yet . Sidewalks and hand rail are getting slick though . I'm glad I have no reason to be on the road tonight . For those who have to be on the road,  I trust you to be safe .

Got 1/2" here . Not much but was fun watching the snow fall .

Two day total was a little less than 3" .. I got to see snow come down for two days.. The snow drought finally ended here in southern MO . I trust that all of us end up with a snowy February .

1 1/2" here This is the biggest snow in nearly 3 years . Maybe the snow drought is over ?

Looks like we get a little ice/snow tomorrow      aint got no snow here yet, well a few tiny flurries but that don't count .

We had a few flurries here but no accumulation. 

Got a dusting here and it was gone fast ...so maybe tomorrow ?  Local weather sez we have a 50% chance .

Mood Snow is better than none ..Also the 9th snow possibility sounds neat , now only if it will happen would be fantastic . A white New Year

The link is my winter forecast, if anyone is curious. Ended up using the following for analogs, which gave a weak, slightly east-central La Nina, which isn't super far off from what the Canadian showed. Analogs: 1932 (x2), 1943 (x3), 1944 (x3), 1996 (x3), 2005 (x3), 2007 (x3), 2008 (x2), 2012 (x1).

If any of you like to ski, I included some snow totals for the mountainous areas of NM as a proxy for whether ski season will be good or not.

 

 

I like the forecast RDwx ,as it has been overly dry around here. With 0 to 1+  temps and above normal wet spells big chances of some wet accumulating snows . I can deal with that  . Also as has been mentioned that if those conditions prevail you'll get bigger chance of Ice and sleet  of which my preference would be negative to that . Well maybe a little bit but not the 1"  + stuff . 

We had a solid frost this morning with a low of 29. It killed a lot of the greenery here with a few exceptions . About time I say
