Been to Canada many times sledding…New Brunswick and Quebec, and they used to tell us to just use a credit card, and the card company will automatically discount the rate as Ice72 did. That way no issues or counting involved.
Or sometimes we’d go to a local store, and cash in some American money, and get the increased difference in Canadian cash, and use that. They’d always be willing to take the US dollar. But you didn’t want to cash in too much at a time.
I also bought a brand new Sled in Canada in 2000, and used my credit card to purchase it. At the time it was a $10,000 dollar snowmobile..one of, if not the most expensive production snowmobiles of that time. I ended up paying $7300 dollars for it after the exchange rate difference back then. So It was worth the ride to go get it. So it can pay off.
