    Yes, it’s a cold look, and there will be opportunities as Will said. We’ve had/seen way worse. So I’m willing to give the pattern some time mature, and see if we can capitalize on something.

    Lol…well In Anthony’s post, he does say patience is what’s needed. But the MJO as we’ve been told is not a driver, as many were led to believe, but only an enhancer that constructively or destructively interferes.

    Just like everything in meteorology, it seems that there’s always one thing that can trump something else, albeit only in very rare cases, and that seems to be happening with that clipper. I mentioned this a week or two ago, the NAO has not helped us much in the last few years. It either has suppressed systems(yesterdays Virginia snow), and now it’s letting a clipper cut to Ottawa…we can’t seem to win with these NAO blocks.

    Oh god ya….no worrying yet, but I lived through the 80’s…it can happen. Everything around us, but nothing hits us. That’s the way it’s looking at the moment. Everybody north and south, east and west getting in on all the action…while we get jumped over. Been there done that 40 years ago. We will see.

    It’s a possibility…has happened before. It can happen again. Sometimes the stuff goes north and south of us…we might be in that set up. Sucks..but it happens.

    So, In an average 12 week winter season (84 days) if the ground was covered for the whole 12 weeks(unlikely in southern areas), ..3% less snow duration is about 2.5 days less…not exactly a shocking number imo. But ok.

    I can make this Saturday’s. But have a wedding next Saturday the 13th. But as Paul said…if more guys can make the 13th instead…by all means switch it up. No worries.

    Well we aren’t 6-8 days out here with this…so this is pretty close in now…it’s like 3 days away, that’s what I like seeing. Be very interesting to see what 0z does.

    Ya dropping like a rock now…22 and plummeting here. Enjoy the brutality there tonight…I’ve experienced many of them in Northern Maine…it’s impressive. Looks like a good pattern setting in….

    He doesn’t understand…as Will said, he was molded by a crazy 10-15 years of prolific snows. Now he believes that that’s how it is supposed to be. It wasn’t. He thinks this is bad…he’d have already off’d himself if this was winter of ‘85-‘92.

    I’ve lived here all my life…I’ve seen some cold Decembers and some not so cold ones too. Flip a coin I guess. The 80’s into the early 90’s were horrific for us winter folks. Mid 90’s crushed it. Then the tear we were on for the majority of the winters from 02-03 up through 20-21 was pretty incredible. So enjoy it as it comes is all you can do.

    Well I’m no statistician…but that’s still 2out of 3 that aren’t all that cold/wintry. I think that’s more the point. Sometimes they are…more times they aren’t. Let’s enjoy this wintry one.
