The dam has to break at some point, right? Between last January and this one BUF has had 5 days where the high has been below 32 degrees. That’s 41 out of the last 47 January days above freezing! Ouch! Impressive actually in a dark humor kind of way for winter enthusiasts.
Really hope the extended cold showing up in the models holds. Those are my personal favorite patterns. Doesn’t need to snow every day but we don’t have to stress about melting and cutters after a nice snowfall.- 2

We've had snow on the ground the last few weeks here but nothing makes it feel like winter then snow falling from the sky. You can take the crusty 2" of snow on my backdeck for some snow falling.
Amazing the difference 15 miles can make in seasonal perception....We’ve had no snow cover here for the last couple weeks. Definite pre-spring vibe, especially the last couple days when temps warmed up a bit. Plus the grass is so green it’s actually not as drab as usual. Pretty good conditions for chipping golf balls around the yard with how dry it is. But just 15 miles away you’ve been “feeling” winter this whole time.

I mentioned this was a 4th quarter game, one the colts easily could’ve won
Good call. That was stressful, but so good to get a WIN!!!!! Go Bills!

Honestly Reich concerns me. I look back at his career not only with the bills as a player but also as the offensive coordinator for philly when they beat the pats. Everyone gives Pedersen the credit as head coach but that team had not been the same since he left and to boot that’s when Wentz was an MVP candidate and Foles won the super bowl...how have their careers been since? Reich has a hall of fame QB to work with and a very strong running game. This game will be a 4th quarter game for sure
You’re making me nervous! But good points. Need our offense to stay hot, then nothing Frank can draw up to stop us. Go Bills!

At least they aren't trying to burn down the building like in Seattle and Portland...
Ok...If someone can make an intelligent argument based in reality on why these protests are justified I’ll recant the “sad” comment. Dozens of court decisions confirming the legitimacy of the election seems pretty airtight, but maybe I’m missing something...

First thing, feel better BUF Weather/Rich!
Second thing, what’s happening right now in DC is off the hook. Sad, really...

I have never seen it so green and lush this time of year. It's actually quite fascinating at this point. The grass even seems to be slowly growing the tiniest bit. We don't even have any residual snow piles anywhere aside from the largest parking lots. It's like we live in a brand new climate, almost surreal.
Glad you noted this. I was thinking the exact thing yesterday waking around the neighborhood, such green lawns for January. Bit ironic actually...we were bone dry and brown June through mid Sept. Green in January. Welcome to the British Isles.

Looking on the positive side...looks dry for the next 7-14 days. I for one am sick of mid-winter rainstorms. BUF probably won’t make it to 5” of snow before mid January but at least it shouldn’t be a mud fest for the next couple weeks.

18...The number of days BUF was below freezing for a high temp in 2020. Don’t know the average but that seems very low. Probably explains why I cross country skied and snowshoed in WNY all of once last year. Tough to find opportunities for winter activities with those kind of temps.
Looking at the models this morning I would set the over/under for days below freezing at BUF in January at 5.

Hoping the Canadian solution holds fast. Pretty much as a cold NW flow for like a week with light LE.
Yeah, just noticed that too. Quite a big difference on the overall pattern between GSS and Canadian for such short lead time. GFS looks “ridgy”, dry and relatively mild all next week while Canadian has a trough, close to average temps and like you said some light snow chances. So either early spring feel next week or a winter vibe. Hopefully the Euro sides with Canadian.

Just measured exactly 2” in the past hour (5:54 to 6:52 pm) here in Barnes Corners...along with gusty winds blowing it horizontally at times.
Nice. Are you chasing or do you live in Barnes Corners?

Finished up with 12-14” here. Today was an all-timer for us northtowners...day after Christmas...snow started around 830am and ended around 4pm, so full viewing pleasure...so many different kinds of snowfall (wind whipped medium flakes, big flakes piling up furiously, monster flakes parachuting down)...skies cleared quickly at sunset with a deep blue sky topping off the day.

Heaviest snow of the day ongoing here right now. 2-3”/hour a safe bet. Closing in on 12” in a hurry.

You must be near Amherst middle based off of what you said about 1/2 mile south of Main Street near Burroughs. Got about 5.5” new on the day here but ripping once again. Just a few miles to our South has double.
Close to Amherst Middle, but on the north side of Main (next to Smallwood Elementary). Having experienced a few events where 1 mile south got 12”+ and I got zilch, I’ll take our 8”+ today and run.
Heavy snow here now again. Flake size increased too.

Picked up here again after a 45 minute lull. One more good shot before it swings back through. 7” new on the day.

Is that 10" in 2 1/2 hours?
I think the airport got into the band by 7am. About 6” in 2 1/2 hours would be my guess. Impressive either way!
