this is my take as well - honestly a "cold" day in late April is still highs 55-60. Not exactly unbearable. And the "cold" is fleeting.

my parents' house close to the center of town (elev around 1500 ft) has accumulating snow.

that was close to the warmest temp i've ever experienced with frozen precip (it was 47/48 here). I remember once seeing snow with temps around 50.
