been fighting this battle with him for a while - don't expect much logic or evidence to come from that corner

My low was 13 with 95% snowcover. You are absolutely wrong about this.
-
again you are on about this ridiculous nonsense. DCA is square in the middle of the most urbanized area of the region. KNYC is in the middle of Central Park surrounded by trees for fucks sake and still has an absolutely massive UHI effect. DCA's temp rarely varies significantly from mine inside the District in a more residential (but still urban) area. When I lived downtown (surrounded by mid-rise buildings with a reading from the roof of a 10 story building), it was almost always exactly what DCA reported if not slightly warmer at times (particularly in the summer). DCA's temps today: 31/15 Tenleytown's temps today: 33/13 DCA is never going to reflect exactly what your climate is because you live outside the beltway in the suburbs.

High/low of select east coast cities: BOS - 22/10 NYC - 20/10 PHL - 20/11 BWI - 22/10 DCA - 25/15 RIC - 27/12 RDU - 32/19 ATL - 36/14 JAX - 34/31 MIA - 69/52

with little wind, UHI doing work tonight. 15.3F here and temp mostly steady since around 8pm. Per PWSs, there seem to be single digit temps mere miles away in McLean
-
15 here - come up near the Fort Reno summit!
-
the record was set in Lewisburg, which is off of I-64 in eastern WV.

He just gets upset when it doesn't reflect the temperature at his exact location.

High at DCA was 25. High at my house a few miles away and 300+ feet higher: 24. What exactly is your point here? Also I'm pretty sure it's important to the FAA and pilots in general what the actual temperature is.

still NYC's greatest 24 hr snowfall (and I remember we (NYC) were slated to miss it to the south until late, and as you can see we almost did!). I have video of incredible blizzard conditions from Battery Park City (right on the water) from that day.

lol - Denver, CO weather.
-
lol if school had been delayed every time we got into the low teens / upper single digits growing up (this is in the Shenandoah Valley), we would've spent most of the winter going to school at 10am
-
Low of 10.6F here, DCA bottomed out at 15F.
-
DCA 24/16 on the day. A cold one!
-
should we go in the NYC forum and mention that New Orleans and Pensacola have more snow this winter than Central Park?
-
some of these snow totals are out of some shit from the 19th Century lol just saw some guy measure 7.5" in Florida.
-
with not much wind and cloudy skies, temps are steady here in the upper teens (18F right now).

Recent January DCA Temperatures Appear Inconsistent with 1981-2010 Normals
pazzo83 replied to RodneyS's topic in Mid Atlantic
really good stuff - I wonder if this is related to what appears to be a more delayed onset to winter-like temps that we've seen over the past decade or so (although not every year). In other words, the core of winter is a couple weeks later than it used to be. -
lol cut these folks some slack, they live in fucking Florida.
-
lol 2 hr delays
-
lol DCPS is on time. I guess we don't really have school buses so that is part of it.
-
yeah - cold in the city always feels enhanced. When we'd have days like this in NYC, it was just fuckin brutal.
-
ATL seems to be getting in on the action
-
no high in the teens for DCA - 22F.

i love the outer banks
