the snow is somehow sticking to some things here, despite a temp in the upper 30s (it is dropping pretty quickly now)

41/26 and raining in NE DC. My guess is that the earth is not warming at all. I’m a big stupid idiot.

Do you think the 0z GFS shows like 5-6"?
you said the models never showed those totals which is flat out wrong.

41/26, a few light raindrops.
Yeah I'm stuck at 40 (temp actually ticked up a smidge over the past 40 min or so).

Not the forum for it, but one FF confirmed dead. Our house shook.
Prayers always to our first responders. Sorry for the banter.

50 currently downtown. LOL. blew past the projected high of 46. Typical DC winter M.O. now... watch it cloud over just in time for sunset and then watch for the 1 degree drop every 4 hours. Will see what wet bulbs are with the low later with the low dews. But it's always just so warm in the immediate metro.
yeah we hit 49 here but temps are starting to drop (46 now)

It's a 4 hour storm. I'm worried you and I waste too much time dropping to 33. Euro is 36 at DCA at 1 am...yikes...I think it's wrong, but still.
I would think we'd drop to around 32 with heavy precip no?
-
yeah the wind is getting gusty here now.

DCA jumped up to 50

Go look at the thread I posted. We were tracking a brief reset after the last 2 storms and then a good pattern setting in; early Feb. Now its post Feb 14th.
Want to make a bet? We meet back here Feb 15th. No snow between now and then, and you will be tracking a "good pattern" in late Feb/ Early March. (which also won't happen)
How much do you want to bet?
i'm thinking maybe if you want to see more consistent wintry weather you shouldn't live somewhere that is still within range of some species of palm.

You are getting greedy. 3 inches is the new 30 inches! Snow is rare.
Our Climo is now what Charleston SC had 20 years ago.
lol I wish. If it's not gonna snow a winter full of highs in the 60s and 70s sounds awesome.

Probably only 14/15 and 15/16?
15/16 doesn't really count as that wasn't really a comeback but all of our annual snow from one storm in January. I remember 14/15 being pretty solidly wintry - that was the year Boston got just storm after storm right?

ehhhh NYC has pulled comebacks like that before. we've had periods where we've gotten 30" in 3-4 weeks. north into CT? really hard sell
I don't recall many comebacks (at least when I lived there in the 2010s) given what the area has gotten so far. Don S will tell you the probabilities of reaching climo in NYC at this point.

We all know that's never happening at DCA. With how UHI-y that site is, we'd be lucky for it to get below zero.
it happened in '94 when there was plenty of UHI at the time. I'm sure it will happen again at some point.

I’m surprised… I could’ve sworn we had some upper 70s January days in the past. I wouldn’t put it past BWI to hit 80 today but will probably just fall short.
I think it might be a BWI record, not the general Baltimore record (which is 79). BWI opened for service in the summer of 1950.

I could be wrong - maybe that is a daily record.

lol yeah not great timing for rapid industrialization - i think the frustrating thing is that we now have more understanding and technological capacity to curb our influence, but society just doesn't really want to (globally).
