  1. not an issue if people shoveled the sidewalks in front of their house. In DC they will fine you quite quickly if you don't.
  2. My two cents - 1996 is still the king. Then snowmageddon (because of back-to-back huge storms), then 2016. I'd put 1993 somewhere in there because in the western parts of the region it was an epic, epic blizzard. I remember barely being able to see past a couple of houses at the height of it.
  3. pretty pathetic to be closed for 4 days - it's not like we got 20" of snow. DCPS opened today (and will obviously be opened tomorrow).
  4. cold here - but DCA still without the subfreezing high.
  5. the palisades fire is basically on the doorstep of the core urban grid of LA. Really really bad.
  6. was JUST about to post about this - looks catastrophic. Everything north of San Vicente Blvd in Santa Monica has been ordered to evacuate.
  7. and they are open!
  8. the roads here are in pretty good shape, not sure elsewhere.
  9. all DC area school systems are closed... except we haven't heard from DCPS.
  10. i bet DCPS is 2 hr delay tomorrow.
  11. so - looks like we'll get real winter about once a decade now.
  12. someone important must live nearby because our streets (43rd St NW and Alton Pl NW) have been plowed continuously. They are both clear.
  13. the snow is REALLY blowing around out there - wouldn't be surprised if we see some ground blizzard conditions tomorrow
  14. yeah - obviously it's warmer. 25 years ago DC is probably in the teens / low 20s during this. But we can still snow.
  15. Kammerer on NBC4 made some reference to it - basically saying "let's slow down folks"
  16. DCA was 35F as the snow started early this morning.
  17. there are some respectable mets at that station too - what in the world
  18. prob 8-9" here in upper NW. hopefully we get 1-2 more!
  19. some light snow has resumed in Tenleytown DC
  20. probably 7-8" so far in DC. A lull right now - hopefully some more on the backside.
  21. closing in on 1" here - mod to increasingly heavy snow. 26F. Off to bed - snow day tomorrow for the little ones lol.
  22. looks like temps stabilizing here around 25/26.
