  1. like ayfkm, you are going to bring up March 01 at this point? literally the most devastating bust in the past 30+ years?
  2. lol it was literally in the wake of that storm that I joined WWBB - needed an outlet.
  3. i feel like references to March 01 in the context of a storm thread should be perma ban - sorry Ji.
  4. i count a three pixel difference on the map - we're f'd
  5. saving the 18 for when the snow actually starts?
  6. anyone know if DCA broke through with more than a T? Just went for a run around the WH/Monument and it didn't look promising there.
  7. we just dipped below 40! but rounding, also 40/22 here.
  8. seems like MASN is canning a bunch of the broadcast staff tho (Kolko, others)
  9. we tend to get a minor river influence so that is probably part of it.
  10. 41 - I'm at 25th and L, and this is 10 stories up.
  11. so this begs the question - when is the last time DCA recorded an inch+ of snow? Jan 2019 right?
  12. DC proper struggles to get much below 30F at this point. We haven't been in the teens in like 2 years.
  13. I'm guessing this isn't going to be great for the remaining ice in this area:
  14. Dude Arctic sea ice is flat-lining in the middle of freaking January:
  15. Some good data from one of our own: It's kind of insane that over half of the days of 2016 set daily records for low sea ice. I mean, can you imagine if there were a particular station that recorded daily record highs for 200 days of a particular year? Alarm bells would be blaring far and wide... Also, I found this graph PARTICULARLY troubling (from Svalbard, Norway):
  16. Buoy close to the North Pole reported a surface temp of 0.4C at 1300UTC today: Ice is getting slaughtered in this general vicinity:
  17. This unprecedented warmth in the Arctic just continues and continues. Vize Island, Russia (which is at about 80º N latitude) has yet to dip below 0ºF. It's avg HIGH for December is -5ºF.
