Just a little insight to the watering the lawn topic..... My lawn is not burned out at all, mostly because it is a mix of clover, dandelion, grass, etc. Also, I have mostly native (in ground perennials) plants that seem to be more adapted to surviving through various conditions.

Agree with all that. It’s a fascination for me as well, but only to a point.

I am in Vermont right now and am rooting for the rough stuff to stay south. Nerve understood people who root for destructive severe weather.

You hate State College? Or you hate Penn State? I was born there and am a PSU alum so I’m biased but it’s one of my favorite places in the world.
