Looking at all those snow fall maps, the thing I noticed is that sharp cutoff up here. Rt 302 in Twin runs pretty much east/west and then approaching the Notch it oriented more N/S as it runs through Crawford Notch. It is sloped as well. It's a lower elevation right in Twin at the intersection of RT3 and RT302 it is steadily uphill until right before the entrance to Crwford Notch at the AMC Highland Center. The land also narrows as you go from Twin towards the Notch. Essentially RT 302 runs along a narrowing valley. It gets shadowed by the Whites and it also floods with warm air during marginal events (relatively speaking) and that is why there is a sharp cut off in accums. I'm actually wondering what we will get here in Bretton Woods. This depicted track looks like it might bury Phin and RT2 corridor, but could shadow here along RT302.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a snowstorm where models didn’t have that sharp cutoff, whether it happened or not. But I definitely like the look - storm itself and then days of upslope. Bring it!

Well, with the SNE weenies having a melt, I assume Friday looks good for us up here?
Most models/members of ensembles show 6+. Still a few days out but it’s looking good; even better is the fact that the storm seems to mark the beginning of a snowy period, with lots of upslope chances in addition to storms. Fingers crossed… I’m ready for the glades

Just slipped into the single digits here. Perfect weather for snow making ahead of the storm!

Actually getting more than expected here, closing in on an inch. Had dinner at Thorn Hill in Jackson and there wasn’t anything when we got there, but was all covered by the time we left. Not nice to drive in through the Notch in, but nice to see

Wasn’t expecting anything beyond flurries but closing in on an inch here

The limited terrain at Bretton Woods skied awesome today. Surprisingly soft and powdery

I have one in Jan…. I’m 28. I’ve had various digestive issues for years, since I was a kid. had endoscopy earlier this year Nd now it’ll be the colonoscopy
I got the Cologuard test done. Covered by insurance every 3 years starting at 45; it’s pretty awesome. Still good to get a colonoscopy done as well, but can’t beat the convenience of a genetic test - almost as accurate (and in some cases, better since it can catch earlier stages) and far easier

It's a whole different world up there ...
There was a store downtown up there, back in the 1980s that used to specialize in family crests ...don't know if they still exist anymore. But we went up there to purvey... When we left the day day was a grayish hang, with moist 39 F air over moosh snow. ( Acton, MA)... By the time got up there it was in the mid 20s, with 24" of powder. I stood there about 5 or 10 minutes after sunset, with T's slipping toward 20, as the arctic night claimed last bit blue horizon light. The Presidential Range ( I think it was ...) create a dark wall beneath on the left, and some other elevations on the right ...made a like a hallway. And ever 3 or so minutes, out of nowhere ...the wind would rise from near calm to fill the air with blowing snow... It was just pure winter - 0 adulterated pureness. It's a moment in time that is indelible in memory... And I thought about that as returned later that evening, and it was the same old 37 F stale air over a rotting snow pack.
Funny how perspectives change… I used to think the first when I first moved up here, now I feel like North Conway is where I’d go if I got sick of the cold weather lol. Of course, it’s all relative - and in CAD situations they’re far colder than Bretton Woods

I’ll be pretty disappointed if we creep towards Christmas and have nothing to show for it.
Lol tell me about it

Liking the 12z GFS much better than the previous few runs

We've had a rainbow for over half an hour. Pretty cool, not sure I've seen one last that long

They’re open-saw them this past weekend but nice try albeit feeble.
Yep, been open daily for a while and it’s actually been pretty nice except for the pouring rain lol. Amazing what resorts can do even in crappy patterns these days. Besides, ski resorts NEVER make money until the holiday season. There could be 6 feet of snow and still very few skiers this time of the year. Same with April.

Is it though? It doesn’t look that way to me. The storm is just starting up here. Point forecast calls for 16”, and accumulation of 1.6” by 1 pm. Given that it’s 10:20 and we already have 1”, seems like it’s pretty much on track. Hasn’t even made it to Maine yet
