The sun just made an appearance in Bay Ridge. Long enough to cast a shadow. We should let Forky know. As always ....

Yeah, people forget that it’s common to still need some heat. I always chuckle when people freak out about using the heat early/late in the season. It’s runs once or twice a day and people think that they are burning through cash like a deep winter cold snap in January.

Some of the low high temps we complain about know would have been window openers after a rough winter cold snap. As always .....

Leaving this rainy hellhole to play golf in maryland. Behave or ill punish you all by making you watch videos of my golf swing.

Not a punishment at all. Who could complain about watching an adult, with a big stick, hit, almost invisible, little balls around thousands of yards of turf, rough, water and sand only to try to get said ball into an equally invisible small hole. “Not me” I’m fine with it. As always .....

Everyone wear pants here except for cops who work on the beach and parks.

Anthony, I have never seen an Officer in uniform shorts. I guess I have to get to the beach more often. I do remember mounted police in Dyer Heights when I was a kid. Maybe Unc remembers also. I remember some older neighbors ready with a shovel to collect that vegetable enriching manure. 65+ years ago, not as many cars then. As always .......

Yeah but we'll be the first ones to have real palm trees that don't die in the winter :sizzle:

I recall reading a speculative article in the pre digital world of over 50 years ago that stated, if the prevailing winds were from the east, considering the Gulf Stream, palm trees could survive the winter at our coastal latitude. Well speculation is fun, sometimes, ignorance is bliss and I did like that last mid century musical, The Most Happy Fella”. Probably, as a result of today’s reality, “Standing on the corner watching all the (persons) go by” might not work as well. As always ...

March is less than a week away now. Discuss :-)

Growing up in 1950’s Brooklyn, rooting for “Dem Bums” our rallying cry was “Wait til next year”. As that’s nine months off, my only question for March is .... how long will it take our 2018/19 winter lion to finally out himself as a fully committed lamb? As always ....

What about other winters though? I've noticed for years you downplay every snow threat. It has worked well for you this winter, but other recent winters when we had way above normal snowfall you were wrong most of the time. The way you post makes it seem as if you hate snow, yet your name is snowman. You have every right to like whatever type of weather you like, but I'm just curious ...... do you like snow or not? If you don't then maybe you should change your name to summerMan or something like that lol.

New contest: Pick an alternate name for Snowman 19. I sorta like the one he has. As always ....

when growing up my favorite story my family told me was the big snow of 1947...The next year in Dec. 1948 there was another storm that was 19.3" at Battery Place...I was in my mothers belly and she fell in the snow and someone saw her and helped her get home...That's another story I was told while growing up in Brooklyn...my first big storm was the March 56 snowstorm...

Unc., now that’s I story I would love to hear. Times certainly were different. As always ...
