I grew up on 5 or so acres and our lawn was pretty small - big enough for a puppy and a gazebo. The rest was woods or closer to the house natural vegetation we brushed hogged a few times a year if needed. YMMV

If I were in charge I'd ban lawns over say 250 sq ft. Seriously. They should be natural habitats - you can mow and keep natural vegetation tidy.

True story. A few years ago I was doing some gardening during the mile and cut off the tip of a finger. Getting to the hospital we forgot the road was closed and I thought I was going to bleed out before we could get out across the bridge to the emergency clinic. Since then no gardening in this day! That was back when we actual had June and July rain.
