  1. Just about a sit and spin for dorian, What devestation on the island.
  2. Where it makes the turn is key, And were just talking several miles at this point that could make significant impacts,East coast still will have to deal with tropical storm winds inland and surge along the coast verbatim, It’s just a dire situation for Florida and hoping for the best as I have several friends in that area and are under the gun.
  3. A hugger track is worst case scenario then a landfall over one area, Dorian could rake the whole east coast of FL.
  4. There is no hiding in Florida from Dorian, This is an impressive deepening cyclone to say the least.
  5. Storms firing in the NW quad around an apparent eye that has been forming over the past few hours, Better looking circulation and out flow developing too.
  6. We were on the outside of the blizzard of 78 here, That's why the one we had in 2015 topped 78 as far as blizzards go with 28.5" as opposed to 12", For here, Feb 22-28, 1969 is #1 with 36" in that 6 day period in that retro storm.
  7. Some good runs in the 60's and early 70's, But those 80's, Ha.
  8. Looks like the heading is more NNW as well on IR, May be starting to form an eye too.
  9. It was forecast to become a TS but remain offshore, Looks to get some PRE in here though from her, 0.50"-1.00" Weds night into Thurs am here.
  10. Someone should e-mail the NHC and let them know.
  11. After 01/20 that winter, We were toast.
  12. Yeah, That is pretty amazing really we have gone this long without more blocking in that region over a longer DJFM, Getting big coastal systems for snow has been hurt by it too, You know how i am as far as the -NAO goes, We do need it to some extent definitely the further south you go, For here, Its just doesn't need to be at extreme levels or it makes it tough for systems to reach this lat.
  13. If the PAC is right, We will be alright, The -NAO has been pretty much MIA over the last few winter seasons and we have done ok.
  14. Ah, Ok, I had a very nice rock maple that was a 12 yr old tree that I had lost, The 2 years before it died the leaves were real small which I found odd, Then the next year the top of the trees had died but the rest of the tree had small leaves, Then the last year, it started to leaf out and stopped and that was it, Come to find out my neighbor had rototilled for a garden and severed one of the main roots to my tree.....
  15. I have a red maple here but its not a vibrant color in the fall, My neighbor has some rock maples and those have some vibrant color to them.
  16. Thanks, Both trees were planted at the same time 30+ yrs ago, The one on the left got hit by lightning and for 10 yrs or so, Only half the tree had leaves and the other half didn't, The bark was split wide open the full length of the tree facing the street, But it has finally healed back over and has just started to thrive so it was set back a few years compared to the one near the driveway, I know one thing, Over the last 5+yrs or so, Its been quite the PITA trying to keep those lower branches trimmed so they were not hitting the tops of vehicles pulling into the driveway. I was about as far as i could go with trimming them with a pole saw standing in the back of my PU, The main problem was the further up into the canopy i was getting i could only cut off half the branch so there was a lot of dead branches still attached to the trunk that I'm sure was not contributing to the health of both trees, They came in and cut them off flush to the trunks plus removed the next two rows that were hanging back down into the driveway, Should be good for another 5yrs or so now hopefully.
  17. We roasted them around the holidays, Its too bad we lost that species, In other news, I had a buddy of mine who is an arborist come give my pin oaks a good trimming last week, That should keep the branches off the vehicles for a few years...............
  18. Cracking open the outer spiny shell to actually get at the chestnut was quite a challenge..............
