Anyone notice that NOAA.GOV isnt working. Been that way all evening
#blame the shutdown
Good thing this site provides near real-time information on current weather conditions and model forecasts that doesn't rely on NOAA or NWS

I’m not sure what happened, but the NWS now has us no higher than 34 all weekend in Fairfax. Snow, rain, sleet and freezing rain. We were supposed to be in the 50’s. If this is accurate, we should be under an Advisory at least. I’ve seen many storms here that continues snow and sleet when it was supposed to change to rain. I won’t be surprised if we stay frozen for much of this. Even after the rain, a flash freeze on wet roads is going to be a mess on Sunday and Monday
You should sue NWS

Will be cool if it's consistent for at least one more run this time.

doesn't matter and doesn't really matter are different things
obviously we'd snow a lot more here if the sun never came out at all
Just speaking for myself living near sea level, the reduced sun angle of Dec and Jan can overcome the challenges that folks at increased elevation don't have to worry about until late Feb and March. To make a blanket statement that sun angle isn't an issue until March goes entirely against what I see year in and year out.

Hi everyone,
If I can get some guidance too on upcoming travel plans, I would really appreciate it.
I am flying out of BWI this weekend. With the upcoming dicey forecast, I bought two flights with points- one is leaving Saturday at 11:05 AM and the other one leaves Sunday at 10AM. Whichever one I decide not to use, the points will just go back in my points bank. I just need to make sure I get out this weekend.
Which one do you think I should go for/ will have the best chance of getting to the airport and taking off?
Thank you in advance, so much. I will be driving to the airport from HoCo.
Airports close for rain now? I'd be more worried about the lack of TSA agents

Did UK trend south significantly from the last run? That's what I'd be looking for..

Per Teninch Johnson that should offer our best snow situation. Maybe we still have a chance

I feel like this Sunday is setting up to be the classic rain then wind then the huge temperature drop. At least in my neck of the woods(Baltimore). Still several days out so maybe it can change, just has that look.
thanks

Wonder if the models lock onto the blocking and makes verification skils higher in terms of better forecasts.
Lately per Ryan both the GFS and Euro doing well. For the GFS a big step up.
Shutdown must be over

Don't forget, models are terrible at sniffing out strength of CAD
