I was pretty surprised to find 32" depth at 11am on Friday almost a full 24 hours after the heavy heavy stuff stopped in East Dorset. Pretty amazing that the 24hr state record could have also been in East Dorset at 730ft in the Valley if there had been an official observer or someone who cleared just once. Imagine the state record for VT being held in a somewhat snowhole above Jay, Stowe, Stratton, etc? 50 years from now weenies looking and saying how the hell is East Dorset the 24 hour record holder...lol. What could have been. Ha

That's pretty much the scene I saw yesterday when I finally was able to get out of my driveway ( my plow guy got stuck for 5 hours somewhere) when I did my tour to the north 5 miles. Every car at every house was totally buried, if it wasn't cleaned off, you couldn't see any sliver of what type of car it was.

I dont have one of the depth with tape measure. It was thigh deep on me and I'm 6'2. But here is the road in East Dorset I was on.

Yea, the timing worked out kind of well actually for him to be able to clear. If the snow started at say 11am on 12/17 instead of near 11pm-12am he would not have been able to clear and snow would have been over and he would have to just report pretty much the depth at 7am which also would have settled too. May have been like 35-38" instead of 44.8"

I put the F6 data in the NNE thread, but here it is for Peru VT Co-op. Was most likely a clear, but that's allowed once in their 24 hour cycle I believe.

Here is the Peru VT Co-op F6 data. So they had 29.6" then cleared and had 15.2" additional post 7am. Depth yesterday morning was 31" after settling overnight.

Honestly, it was such a short window of heavy snow you mostly likely only had time for 1 clear. Someone probably could have had 46-48" I think possibly. I think the CO-OPs measure in a 24 hour window and clear their board at that time, so the Peru VT CO-OP probably cleared at 7am (or whatever obs time is?) and then had a fresh board for post 7am snowfall (someone can correct me if Im wrong about the Co-op clears?) So the 44.8" they had was with 1 clear most likely.

Crazy to think I got 32" and was fringed by the meat of the mega band by 3-4 miles. Took a tour one town to the north of me where the big totals were and found 31-32" settled depth at 11am this morning! This was in East Dorset in the valley at 730ft, not some 2k east slope spot. No question they had 39-40" OTG with no clears.

Like Will or someone said, this was still a pretty high end event with a nice swath of 12+, but that ridiculous mega band just takes the headline and makes a foot seem meh almost.

Speaking of Peru. New VT record if verified. COOP observer with 44.8". That COOP has been around for 80 years. His reports never seem out of line after events either.

Was it 24 hours?

I haven't seen any. the 44" Ludlow got reduced to 41" by NWS after an error by observer I guess. Not to far from me though still in the running for state record. I saw a pick from their yard and there was definitely 40-42" OTG. And it happened in like 12 hours really-crazy.

Danbury NH Cocorahs reported 48" over the 2 day period. That would be the max jack if correct. They are also reporting 48" depth at 8am--obviously that is not passing the sniff test.
