  1. Everyone was still recovering from sandy. I don’t think it had the same impact this one seems to be having.
  2. Streets in lower Manhattan are becoming covered.
  3. Didn’t want to derail the storm thread. The highest snow total I’ve witnessed in November was 5 inches from the snowstorm that followed a week after Sandy. I believe Central Park measured around the same and areas along coastal NJ received nearly a foot. With how rare November snowfall is it's interesting to think of how abnormal, meteorologically, things were in that brief period of time.
  4. Central Park November 0" +1 December 4" +2 January 10" -1 February 15" -1 March 5" +3 April 0" +4 The interior gets a long overdue big winter.
  5. Sometimes when I hear someone bashing meteorologists for whatever indiscriminate reason for inaccuracies of weather predictions I’ll respond, “oh yeah, I forgot how easy it is to predict the future.”
  6. Absolutely, I’m just thinking hypothetically.
  7. I’m most worried about rainfall, whether or not the metro takes direct landfall.
  8. If hurricane Florence could go ahead and stay the hell out to sea...
  9. Not much lightning or thunder here. Wind is impressive though.
  10. Areas just to my west are getting one hell of show. Lightning is going off ever 15-30 seconds.
  11. Decent lightning strikes here. Winding down now.
  12. Planning to hike Mount Washington this weekend. Last time I hiked it was 2 years ago in June. It managed to sleet on me, it was awesome.
  13. There was about 4-6 inches of snow pack. Overlook is just over 3000’. If I had to guess everything in the valley below is under 500’. This summer I’m planning to hike as many of the 3500 footer high peaks in the Catskills as I can.
  14. The guy can't type a grammatically accurate sentence for his life but the second half of this video is actually a pretty good explanation of teleconnections when it comes to snowstorms.
