  1. Per Jay's webcam it looks like the snow moved in their about 30 min ago. I'm gonna keep an eye over the next 3-4 hours but as of now I'm planning to make the drive over in the morning. Man I've made the trip to NVT more than ever this season, speaks to the haves and have nots this winter. Hopefully next winter I can drive less

It was grapple all day; nothing spectacular…started dumping right around last chair. Very firm on groomers, woods had enough fresh to make them decent…only Bonnie from lunch on. The glades off power line and upper milk run were very good, but keep your eyes open as there’s stuff popping up. tmrw will be good. Tons of base for mid April. If you remember that it’s mid April, it should be a great day.

  2. It's been a decent gradient type season.  Once north of the gradient, it's been a respectable season for wintry vibe.  The lack of torches during prime winter months definitely helped spread the "old school winter" phrase around.
Moisture steaming into the terrain.  Been snowing hard, 1-2” per hour.

     4.5” fluff so far. +SN.

Man, “decent” and “respectable” for wintery vibe is the best you can come up with, lol. It hadn’t rained in 2 +- months, no thaws, BN temps and number 6 out of the last 70 years in terms of snowfall with refreshes every 2-3 days. Total snowfall somewhere between 300-400” in the northern greens with more than half of March to go. I’d go with outstanding winter for northern Vermont.

  3. What a season so far.
    279” measured snowfall.
Stowe has the lowest ”reported” snowfall total in the area.  It might be fun to see what Jay’s 382” would look like here, with another 8+ feet of seasonal snowfall.
    Just over 100”+ snow depth.
First photo from a friend, but the buried trees are a vibe.

Here’s the extra 8 feet…drifts burying the street lights. Please no more jay slant sticking talk. I wish they would just report, see pf’s report and add 10-20 percent, lol.64c82612f38f4704f0afb94010a66490.jpg

I miss the liftopia days where I could get a 2 day pass to Sunday river for like 90-100 bucks. Now you can’t even get a 1 day pass for that. Cost has gotten insane unless you live close enough for a season pass.

Im still going to try and get my boys on skis before winter ends (hopefully in a couple of weekends) but I cringe at the prices now. I think Killington still has kids under 12 ski free if you get a multi-day pass for an adult but not 100% sure. They did fairly recently at least.

Jay had a deal for first time skiers earlier this year...4 free lessons, 4 free rentals, free beginner day pass for the day of the lesson and a free season pass once you completed all the lessons.  Goal was to get kids involved in the sport.

  5. Pretty robust EPS run.  They’ve gotten progressively better, but even several days ago it was hinting at some legit potential…which is why I was posting it amidst all the bridge-jumping

It’s going to get fun in feb. Hang on for the Highs and lows of model watching. Going to be plenty of negativity when some of those don’t work, but looking back at the month as a whole on March 1st, I bet everyone gets in on something from nyc-nne.

The coldest month of our lives is currently…

    BDL +1.1
    ORH -0.1
    BOS -1.1

Not even close...but back out the first 3 days of Jan, and it's a decent negative departure at a lot of sites, compared to some plus 5-8 over the last 15 years.  It's def felt cold and windy for me both in Jay and in NJ.  I'm sure the -6 in 2009 would have been fun.

  7. This cold seems to have the mountains way ahead of snow making schedule.  I know Jay has pretty much finished every trail they would blow, and has started going for round 2 on a few.  I would think the only hang up is for a trail like the jet that you want to go into may with, you would probably want to do the second round in late Feb, not late Jan.  But should have some great depths heading into spring this year.

  10. Yeah it’s not warm.  It’s not really unusual for January in the north, but it’s still something you don’t want to be stuck out in.
Stowe Mountain Rescue had a long one yesterday in the Notch.  Three teens wandered off Spruce at the end of the day and got cliffed out.  Then it got dark and very cold.
SMR did a high angle rope rescue and got them down to the road at like 11:30pm.
    This crew are certified badasses.

That’s some life or death stuff right there…those guys don’t get nearly the credit they deserve.
